The last couple of days have been really good for me..

..Got an 800 on the Math II test, and just got my midyear report today. All four A+'s and one A.

Will these scores give me a good bump up or are they both unimportant?

Thanks.

Everything helps, right? Of course they aren't unimportant. I don't know if they'll give you a good bump up, but I know that they'll bump you up.

why do people come up with self-assuring pointless threads like these?

elastine,
because people like you and I post even in threads like this

They're unimportant.

There should be a master thread by a mod. "College admissions for dummies."

And include there "Good grades, by any logical explanation, will help your app."

That is good to hear. Lots of hard work.

Lol, I was just a bit unsure because I hear colleges don't consider midyear reports for intl freshmen ..

Why are you taking SAT IIs as a freshman?

Actually, it's sad to say, but it's likely that these scores/grades could damage your standing a bit. The reasons can get complicated. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I'd take some time and reflect on how to make things better the next time around. I'd seriously think about taking the Math II test over to prove that your score wasn't just a fluke. Also, maybe you could slip a "present" in the purse of your teacher who gave you the A with a wink and ask her what you'd need to do to get the + tacked on the end of that grade.

Don't be depressed. It happens even to the best of us. It's great that you felt you could make yourself vulnerable by posting this information on this website. I am sure all the other CCers feel sympathy for you.

The beauty of college admissions is that they try to suss out people who are dufuses (sp?) who need reassurances that they are perfect. But this clearly is not the case with you since you slipped up.

Reasons why I made this thread:

About the 800-
1. I took it in Jan.
2. My school counselor says most school don't even look at subject tests now that the writing section is a part of the SAT I.

About the midyear-
1. Midyear reports are optional for Intl. students. Optional information usually is, well, optional!

Again, sincere apologies for the perceived cockiness.

20legend,

Don't apologize. Don't worry about jealous people. Great job on those grades!

Those are great grades! Good luck with ur fav schools!
