There are many specific places that bug me, but I remember getting all that stuff after the PSAT and the schools that went straight to the recycling:
All Women Schools (no way)
Southern Schools (don't like too much heat and not a southern kind of girl)
Military (definitely not into the military)
State schools anywhere but Washington (pointless)

I should mention, because I can't edit I don't think (now), I understand why someone would submit themselves to the rigors of a service academy. I shouldn't have used the colloquial "you," because service academies are certainly not for everyone.

Just wanted to clarify. :-)

West Virginia University = no no

yep. screw WVU.

Wow... I just looked at the websites of Bob Jones University and Pensacola Christian College. Where do they find these people?!?!

Also, I would never want to go to a military school, an uber-liberal school, or anywhere where it doesn't snow in the winter.

shellzie

You should come down here to the Bible Belt and spend a week or two. You'd find plenty of those kinds of people.

Speaking of places I'd never even think of attending, there's a Christian college about a half hour away that won't stop calling my house. I don't answer the phone. What am I supposed to say? "Well, your college sucks, and I'm not really a fundamentalist anyways..." Hm...

San Jose State University

I would not go to:

-BJU and similar Institutions, 'nuff said there;

-Any school whose total undergraduate enrollment is smaller than my high school's graduating class of 380;

-Any school whose undergraduate population was larger than my own town of 20,000;

-Any radical left or right wing school, secular or otherwise.

the only REALLY left wing school is probably berkeley.

Yeah, 'cause UCLA, UCSC, Hendrix State, Marquette, Brown, Columbia, Kent State, and others don't have liberal reputations. Naaaah. Kent State especially. No protests EVER happened there in the 60s and 70s. :rolleyes:

UNLV (university of nevada las vegas) because that school is known to be a commuter school and i live vegas
UVA university of virginia that place is SEGREGATED
University of Oregon lack of diversity and no CITY

And what of the LACs such as Bard, Vassar, Amherst, Pomona, Pitzer, Reed, to name a few of ones with liberal reputations.

MIT, CalTech. I hate science. Enough said.
USMA, USAFA, USNA. I'm way liberal, and I believe that it calls my integrity into question (I will NEVER sacrifice my integrity for any cause) to participate, in any way, shape or form, directly or indirectly in warfare, of any kind, for any reason. Also, I don't like the lifestyle.
Johns Hopkins. I hate science, and it's no good for pretty much anything but science and engineering.

I don't agree. It has one of the finest history departments in the country and the creative writing faculty are top notch. If you're a non-science person, it's also easier to get into JHU.

I stand corrected.

spare me your sarcasm. i wasn't referring to reputations; i meant currently. and in the 60's, virtually all the universities in this country were going through that. yes, everyone is aware most universities are liberal. berkeley just stands out to me, especially since it's so close to SF.

"UVA university of virginia that place is SEGREGATED
University of Oregon lack of diversity and no CITY"

can you elaborate on that?

is it really easier to get into JHU if you're not a science/engineering person? i wonder now about the people with liberal arts majors at schools like JHU, MIT, Cal Tech, etc.

^yes. they are trying hard to recruit liberal arts majors.
