Hi,
I am going to be a member of the Washington and Lee class of 2019. I know I have a lot of time to decide whether I want to do it, but I am curious about the leading edge. Does anyone have stories and experiences from it? good or bad? If anyone has recommendations on whether or not to do it I would love to hear! thanks!

Do it. I was skeptical about my pre-o trip up until the moment it started. It wound up being a great experience and I ended up getting to know classmates I otherwise probably would’ve never gotten to know. Your trip leaders also give you a lot of insight into how the school works (which is particularly nice for people, like me, who go to W&L not knowing anyone).

Even if you hate it, so what, it’s a week of your life.

Also, congrats and welcome!

Congrats on your admission! To echo @coppijr, D found that the trip leaders were a great resource not only during her first year but throughout her time at W&L. She did not become best friends with any of the other first-years on her trip, but she was glad to at least have some familiar faces at the beginning since she also went to W&L without knowing lots of people there.

If you decide to do it, be sure to apply the minute the process opens up as trips fill fast. Usually about half of the freshman class does a pre-o trip.

Early move-in was also a plus. Many of her HS friends had already left for college, and she was ready to get on with it ;)
