The Macaulay thread

nvm 10char

I got in, which was very good, as the congratulations came literally minutes after I was rejected from MIT.

I really wanted to get in, and now I'm really happy.

Yea I got the acceptance from Macaulay @ Hunter today! Yay!

Not everyone got their decisions though, my friends still waiting to hear...

Farro which college are you accepted into? I haven't heard anything from city yet.

Thanks, beatlechick77. Be sure to mention you were on college confidential when you attend; maybe, I'll run into you.

I got in Macaulay at Hunter as well. Many of my friends got into the CSI Macaulay. I know some people who are waiting on Hunter Macaulay too...

What is Hunter mostly known for?

Just great, looks like no rejections today so I really hope that doesnt mean they sent out the acceptances via first class and the rejections via media mail meaning those who havent gotten it yet (like me) are due for rejection. Aghhh.

@ miktau
The late arrival does not signal a rejection. My friend received hers yesterday as well, but she was rejected. :(

Ugh, why doesn't mail come on Sundays :(

I'm 58 percent sure I got rejected, but there's still a glimmer of hope. I'm s anxious I can't even eat anything.

anything from baruch honors yet?

Social Sciences, excellent social work program
Education
Nursing

So I just checked my email to find a rejection letter from Hunter honors. At 3am. This is a ****ty feeling.
Anyway, does the Honors college even accept appeals? My case for an appeal isn't too strong in relation to academics, but I feel I can definitely write a pretty passionate one, and I don't see any negatives to sending an appeal.

I'd say that you should definitely try. And, also, they've established a waiting list (according to the acceptance letters); so don't give up yet.

I suspect both Macauly and regular Baruch are going to have a lot of applicants and wait lists will not clear a lot of people. People who are suddenly broke are running out of options. I wouldnt worry about not getting into Baruch honors, the regular program is fine. The main problem is lack of housing. Not only will NYC and suburban kids be living at home, but out of city kids are looking for relatives to stay with. One of my neighbors has already had her cousins kid ask if he could board with her. We have a bus down the hill from us that goes into Manhattan within blocks of both Hunter and Baruch.

Sicccccccck, I got in this morning at Macaulay Hunter via email. I still haven't gotten anything in the mail but macaulay sent me an email at like 3 am lol saying I was in.

Stats are:
Male from Westchester
33 act
3.5 uw w/ 9 ap's

Girl from my school with slightly lower scores but a much higher gpa and who is an incredible writer (published) did not get in. Im absolutely thrilled to have gotten in because this is the toughest program I have gotten in so far and is an incredible opportunity. Still not sure If im gonna go though (waiting on Cornell which is my number one).

Oh cool, a Macaulay thread!!

Found out I got into Macaulay City College on Saturday via mail. Two thick envelopes came: one with all the Macaulay stuff and the other with information about housing & financial aid.

I saw earlier that someone was asking for the admission stats for Macaulay... here's a page that shows cuny's admission stats for fall 2008. It gives the average gpa & sat scores for Macaulay and the regular cuny students across the different campuses.

http://web.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/appcenter/academicprofile/F08_frosh_admis_prof.pdf

Congrats -- where are you going to live?

Thank you kayf!!!

I'm going to live in the towers (city's new dorms that are right on the southern part of the campus)... I want to live on campus to get the full or a more involved college experience. I live in Brooklyn now so it would be kind of a long commute, 1.5-2 hours, and i don't think i can deal with that everyday.

wow...i haven't gotten anything from Macaulay yet. In my CUNY portal, it still says that they are currently reviewing my application....but its been saying that for the past 3 days....gahhh!

I should be getting a decision already right?
....I wonder why Im so late >_<

Guys, this may just be for Hunter, but check your email! I saw my acceptance in the mail first, but the email timestamp says 3:12am lol.

WOO HOO! This will def be a top contender for me. :))) Go Hunter!! (Probably)
