Found it:
And this was the dress:
Our kidās dress had a lacy train. It did get dragged to the ceremony but pics donāt show the dirt. The seamstresses really know how to bustle it! I will post a few pics of the bustled dress if I can find themā¦ but the dress did require professional cleaning after an evening of dancing on a farm.
FDILās dress has a lovely train when spread out, but not sure how that will translate in motion:
I think the hotel courtyard where the ceremony will be is old brick. Iām cringing at the snags, but itās not like the dress will be worn again.
When my hoop skirt was bustled up, the dress was almost six feet in diameter. Loved my āScarlettā dress but have never taken it out of the box after it was professionally cleaned and wrapped. It could have disintegrated by now for all I know.
What a lovely gown. Iām sure it will be just fine.
@ChoatieMom that wedding dress and train are gorgeous!
@ChoatieMom , DIL had a long train and a very long veil as well. They had a country inn, garden wedding. Walked through the courtyard with her dad to get to the outdoor ivy wall. She also stood in the grass for first look and other pictures before the ceremony. Somehow it all worked out and the dress held up very well. Enjoy the wedding!
One of the dresses I considered for myself years ago was satin, with had a detachable cape-like train. Once detached, the dress looked more like a white evening gown. After having helping my sister with her wedding gown/train in the ladies room, the concept was tempting.
Yes I agree itās fairly common to need a tux here. Bought one for both of my college kids because the cost to buy at Jos Banks on sale is the same as one rental. Theyāve both gotten a lot of use out of them. Going to buy one for the high school senior the next sale as well.
Bought the whole thing from them for the first one and then discovered that Amazon has great tux studs in a box for 20 bucks, and the Tie Bar makes good looking suspenders - their choice instead of a cummerbund - for much less so we value engineered the next one.
Thereās also a place in Atlanta where the band/orchestra kids get theirs and theyāre supposed to be good for college tuxes as well!
My son wore his orchestra tux (required) to his proms. By junior year the jacket was a bit snug, so he purchased a nice formal vest that he wore most of the night.
Iām in Ca and Iāve not seen a tux at a wedding since the 80ās.
I thought formal meant socks required
My husband thinks formal means he shouldnāt wear shorts. Lol
So far, this is THE dress that D and H and I and my sis like best. It is pretty comfortable, very affordable (under $50), not too flashy, different from anything I own, and doesnāt shed sequins. The other NRack outfits were rejected and will be returned. The outfit looks on me like it does in the photos.
I love it! And admire your figure
@HImom very cute dress. Nowā¦start hunting for shoes!!
Well, am thinking of buying the next size and 2nd next size smaller as the dress is a bit large on me. Am also thinking of ordering a few off the wish list I have on Amazonāespecially the long sleeve velvet. Iām thinking it may be cold in October.
I think a nice cashmere wrap would be better than a long sleeve velvet dress in Hawaiiā¦but thatās my opinion.
@BunsenBurner has the lead on nice wraps!!
Iām not sure how the sequins will go with a wrapādonāt want them to snag it. I have a few weeks to play around before I need a final decision on keeping vs returning. Nordstrom says return by 4/1.
