The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

Our son’s high school used to have a parent mixer before school started. So not as BIG of an event as a wedding, but I showed up in the same dress as the superintendent’s/founder’s (it was a charter school) wife!

What can you do except take a Twinkie pic! If I’d only also worn pearls!

Personally, I think dress number 2 looks too casual for a wedding.

I vote for number 3, which surprises me because I didn’t think it was the best choice when you first posted the catalog picture of it.

I think number 3 is very flattering.

Thanks! I picked number 3. Now trying to find a type of topper for the dress if it’s chilly. Easier said than done.

I like dress number 3 so much that I’m planning on wearing it for my daughter’s first wedding ceremony. The one in their town before they have their destination wedding.

@deb922,
Look at this: chiffon, so dressy-ish, comes in a variety of colors.

Edited to add that I was looking at the cardigan style, not the elastic cuff bolero that’s shown in some colors.

Thanks so much! That looks like a definite possibility

I bet she wasn’t too thrilled having to stand next to you!

You guys look great in that dress—both of you!

Since we’ve been talking about pantyhose, I decided to try some with the dress for this upcoming wedding.

I also found a nice sweater, recommended by a poster. I think this is the winner :trophy:

What do you think about the hose?

I actually prefer the natural shade of leg, partly because the black hose mutes the colors of the dress and hides the cute strap on the shoe.

I think this is a great outfit! IMO, for this dress/cardigan/pumps combo, sheer black tights are quite complementary.

@deb922 I really like the look. If this were a summer wedding, I’d say go with a sheer nude stocking. But IIRC it’s fall…I like the look of the sheer blacks and they tie in well with the black sweater.

Have fun!

I think the hose and shoes look perfect!

I think you could get away with a cardigan that picks up the lighter colors in the dress (aqua, green) also! Particularly since the dress background is greyish.

But looks v cute as is, also!

I like that look. To me it’s kindof nice to have the shoes blend in with the hose.

I’m an outlier and prefer it without the hose. The hose look nice but I think it takes away the youthful look of the dress.

I like it with the black hose and sweater! I really love the dress!

Nice legs. :leg:. Fine with black, but you don’t need anything

I sent this picture to my daughter. She predictably said no to hose!

I’m undecided, will probably be a game time decision

Honestly that is the best decision- be prepared for both ways!

Well, I like it better without the hose. That is not to say I don’t like this combo. It’s just that I think your legs are covered enough with just the dress and it really is more youthful without them. I hate to say it, because I want them to be trendy, but it’s aging. I also agree you see the cute shoes more without.

I’ve been avoiding all kinds of hose (except black tights in cool weather) because of the purported ‘out of style/aging’ thing. But I am continually freezing that way (in an air conditioned office). Hence pants almost all the time.

Agree that the longer dress will keep you warmer if you end up going that way, though!!

(oops- I guess this belongs on pantyhose thread!)
