Respectfully disagree.
In that outfit, the tights balance the cardigan and vice versa. Without the tights, the outfit could look a bit top heavy.

I certainly agree with balancing. But what if she doesnāt need to wear the sweater. The dress is so youthful just by itself. I understand if she gets chilly, but if not, then she will really look unbalanced in those black
Deb, just take the hose and decide that day. I like dress the dress by itself the best.
Both looks are nice. Best choice may depend on weather.
(Personally I donāt yearn for a āyouthfulā look, just something that I like and feel good in. Well to be honest I usually give hubby a vote - heās really the only other person who will pay much attention to what Iām wearing.)
Yep, I dress for me first, DH next. No one else.
If I decide to keep it, what do you think of these shoes with it?
or these?
I have wide feet with lots of arthritis so I canāt wear a high heel. Looking for comfort above all else!
That looks very nice on you. I would consider myself done.
I tried really hard to find a pantsuit for my mil for this upcoming wedding. Could not find anything that worked.
Sheās wearing a sweater she has with a skirt she has also. We had a heck of a time finding anything. It doesnāt help that sheās in a small town, I donāt live locally and ordering online was clumsy for both of us.
The dress stores that existed before the pandemic just donāt carry the same stuff.
I like the first shoes
I like the first shoes too. They tie in the rhinestone accent of the top. Are they black and the pantsuit is navy? The first shoes in navy and silver would be great but black will work.
I like the first pair. The second pair seems too dainty compared to the strong accent of the rhinestones on the top.
Very nice! I think it would be worth paying to have the pants shortened. I also vote for the first shoes - black and silver should look nice.
Iām team first shoes, too. The pantsuit looks great on you. Proper length will make a lot of difference!
The first shoes are navy, not black. I liked the rhinestone accent, too. Several reviews said that they arrived missing a couple of rhinestones, though .
Will definitely get it shortened. Thanks, all, for the opinions and suggestions .
I agree with @conmama. I prefer the dress without the sweater and black stockings. I donāt think itās bad looking with both sweater and leg coverings I just prefer it without. I love the dress and unless itās cold the look gets lost. On the other hand I agree with others to wear what you like. Iāve finally figured out that unless Iām MOB or MOG nobody pays much attention to what Iām wearing.
I think deb922 can get two different looks out of this dress! I believe she mentioned she wants to wear it to two different events, if I recall right.
You did!
Iām going to wear this dress twice. Once in September and again at the end of April.
I love all the lively conversation about the hose. Itās very interesting. And pretty even on who likes what.
As a Michigander, I always like to have a sweater. Just in case. All year long.
Did you post a pic without stockings?
I think both leg options look really good, but I have a slight preference for nude legs (via nothing or nude stockings).
Both okay but think the bare legs look better. If weāre voting!
Is there black in the dress? It looks more brown to me but there may also be some black in there that Iām not seeing?
Ok, I canāt believe Iām going to say this because I thought this jacket was too long and said you should find a shorter one. But this look, to me, looks so much more on-trend, youthful and really put together than the sweater and black hose.
So howās that for confusing and backpedaling. I actually like this one so much more.
I think both looks are lovely. Wear whichever one you feel best in. If there will be dancing, give priority to the dress-only (no jacket/sweater) option. At sonās outdoor wedding, it got chillyā¦ so I well know that dancing makes you warmer (I just kept dancing - so fun!)
