Is this a misspell??
Oops — Shtisel. Also mentioned in a post up a bit in this thread.
Mad Men and Schitt’s Creek are two shows that I just couldn’t stand watching. People kept saying give them a chance, but I hated spending time with the characters.
Many shows have already been suggested. I will add Psych.
I just re-watched the entire 9 years recently. Love this show. I was actually watching the “Wizard of Oz” episode again last night. So, many musically-oriented episodes like the one with lead singer from Men At Work.
St. Elsewhere! So many great actors, early in their careers.
Where can you watch St.Elsewhere? I’d love to re-watch that one. And China Beach.
We tried re-watching Hill Street Blues a while ago, but it didn’t hold up well IMO. Some fun, but definitely not as good as the first go-round.
I don’t watch much, but my kids would say
Parks & Rec
Masterchef
Survivor
I think Hulu and Prime.
Family. I never see this show mentioned and don’t know if it is streaming anywhere. Starred James Broderick, Sada Thompson, Kristy McNichol, and Meredith Baxter.
House. This is one I binged recently.
Bones. Early years were definitely better than the last 2 or so.
Others have mentioned West Wing, St. Elsewhere, ER, Parenthood.
I confess to liking Gilmore Girls–though the movies were horrible-- and most of Blue Bloods.
I’ve never watched Friday Night Lights, so that’s one I may try.
I actually watched Family about a year ago. I think it was on Tubi, but looks like it’s no longer available. Tubi and Pluto are free streaming services that have a lot of old shows. I started watching Cagney & Lacey on Pluto a few months ago after reading Sharon Gless’ autobiography.
There was a good show that unfortunately did not survive the pandemic. Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist - it was one of the few musicals among network shows and it was nominated for a handful of Emmys!
I rewatched Friday Night Lights last summer and it was such a good comfort-food style show. It holds up well. Just be aware there was a writer’s strike that affected season 2. Season 3 has sort of a feel of a re-boot, in a good way. Parenthood & FNL have the same show-runner (Jason Katims), so that’s a good clue that they’re worth watching!
I’ve been thinking I want to find Thirtysomething and watch it as an adult!
As a Sixtysomething, I would definitely re-watch Thirtysomething, though it might make me sad to think that I was thirty-something when I first watched it. Where do the years go?
I’ll add The Office if you somehow missed the Netflix frenzy.
The Good Place is also great.
And many of the great older shows - Hill Street Blues, ER, Lost, Seinfeld, Friends, West Wing, House, Parks and Rec.
We LOVED ER back in the day. In fact, we named one of our kids after Noah Whiley’s character; sent him a birth announcement - and he responded with a signed photo saying good luck to our kid!
i also like watching Friends reruns
Another retired network show I just realized I didn’t see all the season was Big Bang Theory.
I’d really like to choose something that I have seen none of, so Parenthood it will likely be.
You’ve probably seen some of these but, Parks & Rec, The Middle, A Million Little Things, The Office, This is Us, All Creatures Great & Small, Downton Abbey, ER (currently rewatching), House, Duccession, Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Law & Order SVU
My S discovered Frasier and watched them all. It started airing before he was born. He tried but didn’t care for Cheers.
I liked Parenthood. Surprisingly hubby liked it too.
