The Network TV Series That You Watched/Loved Post-Series

My D and I really enjoyed Jane the Virgin a couple summers ago

I was introduced to FNL by my S who maintained that Season Two should just be skipped. So we did. Didn’t feel like I lost anything.

We recently watched My Name is Earl–really stupid, but really funny. The series ran from 2005-2009l

We recently binged the entire Earl series for the third time. One of my absolute favorites, the best and funniest ensemble ever. Very smartly written. The entire cast is perfect, but Jaime Presley is outstanding.

That reminds me - Raising Hope.

If you like British humor, AbFab and Fawlty Towers. Though I am not sure where you can stream them, if anywhere.

Keeping Up Appearances is so great. Doc Martin too.

I think it’s too hard to differentiate network from cable. Many of us watch the network shows on cable because On Demand makes you pay for past seasons now. (They didn’t used to several years ago, which really annoys me that they started it).

I think I did binge Desperate Housewives a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Parenthood is a family favorite and a satisfying ending. I sometimes watch the ending now and again.

I guess I was thinking a couple things:

  1. There is already a “Binge” thread which includes many of the streaming shows.
  2. I was sort of thinking of network series BEFORE streaming was a thing. Parks and Rec, The Office, FNL, Seinfeld, etc.
  3. If someone posts a streaming show that’s fine. I just didn’t want the thread to turn into a duplicate “Binge” thread.
  4. FINALLY, I’ll admit that for a lot of the time my kids were growing up I basically watched not a lot of tv and def not regular tv! I feel like I missed out on a lot of the popular series.

Desperate Housewives is one of my fav series of ALL time. I’d def watch it from beginning to end again. I think we actually have the entire dvd series - though no dvd player anymore!!!

If you are into sci-fi (without the horrible gore that is being presented as sci-fi nowadays):

And how did I forget! Our second most favorite show of all times - Medium. Patricia Arquette is outstanding in it. And we loved the fact that their house was messy, just like any house of a busy middle class family with 3 kids.

Has anyone suggested MASH yet?

I have been meaning to suggest MASH. We watched it all with our kids when they were middle school/high school aged and thought it was still great. It was interesting to watch how it evolved as they became more aware of how they might want to treat women better.

Another really fun show if you missed it is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Not a series but The Amazing Race. I also recently started re-watching The Waltons as my mindless chores entertainment. LOVED that show as a pre-teen/teen when it aired.

I will probably peg my age with this…

Friends
Frasier
Battlestar Galactica (the remake…well, the first three seasons)
The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles (truly under-rated)
Downtown Abbey
Star Wars: Rebels (yes, animated, but, if you like Star Wars, then so good…)
The Mandalorian
Stranger Things
The Crown
Outlander

I have all of Ally McBeal on DVD, but like you, no longer have a player.

I’m glad to see Lost mentioned by others since I first mentioned it. There was just something about it and some scenes have still stayed with me years later. I had some of the episodes on DVR but *lost" them when we had to get a new TV. I was very upset! I think I’m going to try to find a way to watch again.

My daughter joined my MASH marathon when she was in high school and impressed several teachers/profs with her knowledge of both the show and the Korean conflict.
