The Network TV Series That You Watched/Loved Post-Series

Presume you mean the original “Who Shot JR” Dallas, not the revival. It set the standard for nighttime soaps and season cliffhangers. A fun ride - until Pam’s Dream. Not a spoiler because if you know to what it refers, you already know the show!

After 35 years, I’m not sure it counts as a spoiler. :smiling_imp:

The better part of valor is discretion.

Ya just never know!

I never once watched the show, but even I know what that refers to!

Seriously. One would have had been living in Mars to not know. I never watched, and that season was 10 years before I was born, and I know it. Although, I usually hear it referenced as the shower scene

On a similar note, the snow globe is important in St Elsewhere.

Does anyone remember the series “Homefront” that ran for a couple of seasons in the early 90s? It was about soldiers returning home to a small Ohio town after WWII. Seeing Kyle Chandler in FNL made me think of this show that we enjoyed so much. I’d watch it again if I could find it. Same for China Beach.

yes, I liked it very much. And I think I just made that Kyle Chandler connection…this minute!

Has Kyle Chandler been in anything recently?

I can be a sucker for those “where is the cast now?” features.

Currently starring in Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount+

@ChoatieMom - we loved both Homefront and China Beach when they were on.

MASH is in a class by itself. I can watch it any time I scroll by

West Wing is also close to perfect. We rewatched this during the early pandemic. The podcast is also great.

Others I would recommend:

NYPD Blue - great characters
The Wonder Years (original, I have not seen the reboot)
30 Rock - so many one-liners
Modern Family
The Newsroom

Today’s news brought back memories of the pilot episode of West Wing. No spoilers for those who still haven’t watched it!

I spent the last couple of days thinking that there was a network TV show titled Pam’s Dream that I had somehow never seen nor heard of, and my lack of knowledge about that show was a sign that I live under a rock or on Mars.

Relieved to reread the last few posts and realize that people were discussing Dallas, which did air during my childhood. I never watched it nor do I know what Pam’s dream or the shower scene refer to. But even I remember all the references to the question of “Who Shot JR?”

The '80s were a busy time for DH and me, but we religiously taped and watched Hill Street Blues, St Elsewhere, and another I don’t think has been mentioned–LA Law. So many of the casts of these show became familiar in subsequent shows.

Those three and Cheers were staples in our house.

Loved St Elsewhere.

Not sure how I just saw this thread but excited for those watching FNL and Parenthood, two of my all-time favorite shows.

And, yes, loved Kyle Chandler in Early Edition. I just love him anyway. He is a volunteer firefighter locally, and when that was discovered all of us talked about setting fires to see whether he would be a responder. Can you imagine?

I still think Northern Exposure is one of the best series ever made.

Where can you watch St Elsewhere today? Or Early Edition?

I started Six Feet Under - but apparently only the pilot episode was available to me with our streaming networks :frowning:
