The New 2007 USNEWS rankings

...because they censor any mention of XO?

I've just heard of XO...checked out the website and its awful. I don't see how anybody would ever want to use that format...

that way you can actually reply to other people and not have to do it immediately after they post! keeps the continuity and makes threads easier to follow

No need to fight kids.

xoxo

hth

threaded posts are obnoxious to have a discussion in. CC wins.

threaded posts? What do you mean?

thethoughtprincess nailed it.

What if every school had stayed in their same spots?

No one would buy it.

"threaded posts are obnoxious to have a discussion in."

That's a pretty stupid statement. Threaded posts are much easier to have a discussion in because you can actually reply directly to another post. You don't have to keep looking at quotes or referencing posts pages before to follow what people are discussing.

As for how much competition there is between the two, CC definitely seems concerned by xo, so much so that they censor the board's name and created "the lounge" section on CC to compete directly with the off-topic nature of xo.

threaded posts? What do you mean?

Something like the LiveJournal format.

Example: http://news.livejournal.com/92728.html?thread=36661560#t36661560

Indentations indicate exactly which comment a post is referencing.

Oh okay, I think I know what he means then. On livejournal, threaded is VERY annoying because you have to keep clicking and hitting the back button to see every post. CC is obviously much better than that. On XO, however, there is only one click required to see the whole thread. Plus there are no annoying headers like in livejournal, so it is easy to see who is replying to who.

no that's a crappy forum it looks like someone created it in 20 minutes...at least they put thought and effort into this one.

brand you miss the point. elegance > clutter. sorry you can't appreciate the simplicity.

xoxo

HTH

CC is obviously and undisputably better. There is no argument.

sure there is.

go try posting on there and you'll get addicted. people aren't boring, as they are here. (for one thing, not everyone is a premed.)

xoxo

HTH

I'm not premed, and I don't find people on here boring. I find people on XO frantic, senseless, and immature... but that's just my opinion.

That's why we love it.

I sincerely hth.

your opinion kinda sucks

HTFH

edit: oh wait he's right

at least half of the threads aren't OMGCANIGETIN, whatdoyouthinkofmyschedule, or let'sargueaboutthisranking

Can it be? Has CC hit a new low in mindless internet posturing and e-peen wagging? Below even the most-heated AA debate or Ivies v. Everyone Else thread?

No! Say it isn't true!

this forum is just very boring and people are too politically correct, its like the official college discussion board sponsored by the US government. last post.
