i dont think that emory moving in front of one school is too much or dramatic. it went from 20 to 18 replacing notre dame. not like it jumped five spots.

what are the selectivity ratings for the national universities?

If it's any help, I was at the B&N in Bethesda this afternoon, and there were no USNEWS mags at the store. The nice lady even checked the back area. So, I'm fairly sure that the original list is a farce.

If they are valid, Mort Zuckerman will be the new Ben Franklin in Philadelphia.

It's a hoax.

Sorry. Type in aut0admit where the *'s are but change the "0" to "o."

I find it hilarious that the CC administrators block the mentioning of the competition- as if people won’t find a way to mention it anyway.

Chas's list is more believable... Chas, could I persuade you to post the ac rep scores

This can't be happening...

Eww...I never heard of this competing forum until now, and what a relief. Too vulgar, too boorish, and too crappy of a format. And no, I'm not a CC lapdog.

I don't understand why everyone is calling that ranking believable and "perfect" when the changes in it are too large compared to the changes made in past years by USNews. It doesn't matter if you "like" the ranking--it seems uncharacteristic when looking at the rankings over the years. Schools make slow climbs up and down, usually over the course of 5-7+ years.

nodnard, the rankings are extremely consistent with themselves, with most changes occuring about 2 or 3 spots. If you think about it. HYPSM, Cal Tech, Penn, Duke, Columbia, and Dartmouth are typically always top 10 schools, but they vary within themselves.

As in, US News keeps it mostly consistent but just changes these schools a few spot. That way, it correlates with public perception as these schools are usually considered the best, but also changes around enough so that people will buy the issue. That way, its consistent enough to be considered valuable and interesting enough to be worth buying.

Usually after these 10 are NU, Cornell, Brown, JHU, Chicago, WUSTL, ND, Carnegie Melon, etc. and these are usually in the top 20, and so on for almost every school.

If you look over the past 10 years of rankings, you'll find most schools have stayed pretty much the same.

Slow climbs up and down aren't marketable, but keeping a general level of consistency is important.

I think the someone posted a fake in order to show how ridiculous it is for us to argue and cry about rankings. Just because your school goes down a couple spots you hate the magazine and call it unreliable; just because your school goes up a couple sports you support the magazine. It's completely retarded and I applaude the person who put out the hoax if this was his intention.

does anybody have the full list for the undergrad? and for undergrad bus too.

Too bad CC is so protective about the competition

the X-O site is not really competition. CC attracts mostly high school kids. X-O is just the remnants of the old PR site, most people on it have graduated or about to graduate from college. It's not really college discussion.

Xo Sucks!!!

It sure does. The sad thing is that CC goes out of its way to block any mention of it.

lol yeah xo don't do that

It's pretty funny that they act like there's a huge rivalry between CC and XO when in reality we've hardly even heard of them.
