The new AP test?

According to the New York Times, it looks like the College Board is vastly changing the AP exams, for the 2012-2013 year. It's interesting that AP Bio and AP US History exams in particular will be very different, with much less rote-memorization and less comprehensive coverage.

The article said that MIT no longer gives AP credit for biology, and instead asks students to take their own placemnt exam-- feeling that even students with a 5 on the AP exam do not have the problem-solving, analytical thinking that they are looking for.

Interesting. I wonder how this will change high school science and math courses?

I don’t see any mention of changes in the APUSH exam. Is there an online link to the article you mention?

Here it is!

This is so annoying. I feel like I’ve been cheated ever since I got into high school. I’ve always had to be the guinea pig in my math courses and the year after I leave a course they drastically change things to be more appropriate. They are adding more AP classes, but it’s already too late for me to take them. Apparently they are planning on starting school later in the day and getting kids to start college-level work earlier. Now they are changing the AP curricula?
