meh. It is going to take me a while to get used to it. Calculating how many times a topic is viewed and how many posts you have is TMI that I need.
( I had to get a new password too)

Well, I used to be Aparent4, but I couldn't manage to register under that name. No problem. This new forum is much better. Counting the posts has an interesting effect, in my experience. It's helpful to be able to distinguish newcomers from those who have been around the admissions office a few times. ;) Then we won't get frustrated with people who don't know EA from ED. And they will, to quote the late and great Rodney D., show us a little respect. Nice work, CC owners/mods! Much improved.

AParent, how did you find the smilies?
also the clock on this seems odd to me and I am not just talking that it is not eastern time (realize it is not eastern) but the time itself seems off, same with the dates? I did not join in Aug. 2004. but not sure I get the time clock either. So, tell me where are those smiley buttons?

If you go to my control panel, and then the My Options button, you can select your timezone.

Except, it's about 50 minutes off. cough

Susan, when you hit Reply, look at the bottom left of your screen and see "Smilies are on." Hit the Smilies link.

My time is off by 50 minutes as well. Strange since it is set to right time zone.

Hmm It is new let us see

Actually, Aparent, we are all deemed to be newcomers now, since we all had to re-register.
The time is a sign of globalization at work: not wanting to privilege EST, we've gone to Greenwich Mean Time. Very helpful for posters in the UK, I'm sure.

:o
:o
:o

Wow, figured it out (I think), thanks.
And yes, the clock does not seem set correctly in terms of minutes no matter what time zone. And why it says some of us joined in Aug. I am not sure but I have been here two years. In any case, I am sure I will get used to these new gadgets and gizmos.

Yes, Marite, I know we are all newcomers now, but already we can see that the "regulars" are posting a lot, and soon enough those who are here now will be oldtimers.

I make the time about eight minutes fast. I think they are closing the gap.

Marite, yes it is not ET but it still seems off by 50 minutes or so on my computer. And yes, I realize we are all "new" as this is a new format for the forum but am not sure why some of us are marked as joining in Aug. and some in Oct., not that it matters but just did not get the time/calendar stuff here.

I like the idea of how many posts per day. Gives me an idea of how much time I spent (wasted?) here....

Well, looks like I made it in. Interestingly, everyone here is marked as a "new" member, but over on another board, there's someone showing up as a "junior" member.

I do agree with most that the new look is great and updated. But I just have one question. The old threads...can they somehow transfer over here or are we really starting from scratch?

Soozievt: According to my first login, I registered in 1969. :-D

Will we get some sort of award if we reach a certain number of posts?

Wow, I hate aol, it took 4 tries to get my password. This is a test

I can see that once I get the hang of the bells and whistles this board will be a vast improvement over the old one. Two thumbs up. :)

PS - As posted above, the clock is off.

It's going to take some getting used to. I'm bummed that the old stuff wasn't able to transfer, we lost a lot of good discussions. Some of the options are nice though, private messaging, people being able to send an e-mail without knowing your e-mail address (although I decided to allow mine to be accessed, and I really like to transfer section (for obvious reasons).

I like the new format. I had forgotten my pw but was able to reset it easily. I appreciate the screening that they do on new (and old) posters on CC.
