Whenever there is a change in the design of CC, I feel like Helen Keller after her parents rearranged the furniture. Not surprisingly -and faithful to my conservative ways- I usually do not like the changes, but start to appreciate them in time. This new upgrade has brought a few subtle changes that seem quite helpful, but I cannot get over a few of the cosmetic changes in the design and organization. I don't like the massive presence of blue underscores and would prefer the old set of information regarding posts and threads.

Does anyone else feel the same way? Please post your opinions.

I could get used to the smaller font, but I miss the information about who posted last on a thread...it helped you know whether comments had moved on or stalled. I found that I couldn't reply by clicking on the blue reply but I clicked on the 'post reply' to the left (in white) and I'll see if that works.

I also miss that new threads were in bold face before.

Yes, same here. The blue button is not working properly.

My feeling is that something must have gone wrong during the upgrade, and that a developer's work-in-progress version must have been uploaded. The broken features and inconsistent fonts and look are sure signs that this could not be a final version compatible with the high standards of College Confidential.

I particularly miss the name of the poster who last posted, as there are those whose comments I follow avidly:). Also, if I posted on a thread and I am the last poster I really don't need to check it....

At this point, I hate to say it, but I don't like it either. Jazzymom and Alumother - I also miss the link to the name of the last poster. Apart from that, the only feature that seems to be working properly for me is the quick reply - not good since I make far too many typos.

I just want to see if the edit link works. It does and it kindly let me use the "go advanced" link.

I am testing too- couln't reply to a post after I wrote a fairly lenthy reponse. So I'll try again.

It took this post- but I still could not respond to a post from 7/20 re my d's school SUNY Cortland- Maybe its harder to respond to the older posts ??

Yeah, Helen Keller indeed, Xiggi. Can you spell m-i-c-r-o-s-c-o-p-i-c? That's how my PM's appear. Can't read either the outgoing or the incoming. It's like when you pull down Format/Character on Word for Mac & when the option box pops up, you accidentally click on "superscript." The menu options for PM's are the same as for Discussion Replies. However, when I click on Sizes, nothing happens with the up/down arrow. (There are no size options, on my computer.) I figured the smilies were either drag icons, or click/insert. Neither works for me. So thanks for no enabled smilies, either. (Only at the end of text.) This is not to mention how long it takes for the new system to load when I want to reply or PM. Nor does it address the fact that the page is way too wide for my normal screen. The back & forth with the horizontal scroll? What's that all about? The manic underlining?
WHO DECIDED TO RE-INVENT THE CC WHEEL?
Sorry.

Here's a link to a different forum. It shows the most recent poster, the new threads are bolded and it shows how long it has been since the last post. And lots more smilies. The young man who started the forum did so to take advantage of newer technology that was available.

The problem with changing my computer screen's font size (zooming in) is that I frequently toggle back and forth between CC and numerous other websites and I don't need the other sites' text to appear in giant 42 point type. Please go back to a bigger type size.

Also, I second Xiggi in his comments about the underscores. Don't like it.

And finally, I really like seeing who commented last on a thread, for all the reasons previously mentioned.

BTW, I can reply to posts, but only by logging in new each time.
