The Nicest College Campuses You Have Seen...

I love lots of campuses, USC, UCLA, Duke, Carolina, the old part of Rutgers, but if you have ever been on Princeton's campus on a fall afternoon with the temperature in the high 60s and the leaves falling…..

Wow - I think Kenyon's got a pretty campus as does St. Mary's College and St. John's College in Md. Bryn Mawr is beautiful, Union's campus is pretty, Trinity (Ct.) is also pretty nice and Princeton has grass like turf....

I'm surprised people are so down on Harvard. When I visited this summer I thought it blew all the other schools away (Columbia, Tufts, Brown....). Then again, I do have a thing for urban campuses.

I've visited VaTech, Stanford, WashU, UVA, Duke, Michigan, Wisconsin, Princeton, UNC-CH, Harvard, MIT, Dartmouth.

The most gorgeous were Princeton, Dartmouth, Stanford, WashU, UVA, Duke in that order I think. Wisconsin has a great location and campus feel, and Chapel Hill (or the parts that I saw) is a beautiful Southern town, with wrought iron and riotous greenery.

Columbia

Harvard

(I'm an urban person with a liking for green on campuses :))

Rice has an awesome campus, only problem is that it's in Houston.

Vassar's campus is quite striking in all seasons. Beautiful builidings, gardens and grounds. Rice's campus is also gorgeous, surrounded by hedges in the middle of Houston. Someone posted pictures on the Rice and Vassar forums- take a peek.

I second UK universities. The US doesn't even compare. St Andrews is absolutely stunning... beaches, castles, old pretty buildings...sigh I would love to live there someday.

I have visited: Southwestern, University of Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, Davidson, William&Mary, Williams, Hamilton, Allegheny, Centre, Sewanee, and Rhodes. Out of those, I'd rank them:

Centre, SMU

UT

St. Andrews is very nice, but I don't know, it just felt really isolated. I like cities so maybe St. Andrews was just too much of a small town for me, but it was cute. Or maybe since I was bombarded by all of the old buildings and history that characterizes all of the UK that St. Andrews never really left a mark. Either way, I have to agree that the campuses in the UK, or at least the ones I've seen, are awesome!

The best campus I've seen is probably CAL(go Bears) or Umich(Go Blue).

The worst is, without a doubt, UC Riverside.

SmogTown=StayoutofRiverside

Hoo wrote "SmogTown=StayoutofRiverside"

Actually, SmogTown is somebody else, but good thought anyway. I notice that in another thread, you seemed to disagree with my sentiments about how UC Riverside was the ugliest campus I'd visited. I offered specific examples to support my contention. Furthermore, at least 3-4 other ppl chimed in that they agreed that UCR was one of the worst college campuses. If you head over to the Santa Cruz vs. Riverside thread, you will find that there are unanimously negative sentiments towards UCR.

As I wrote in the other thread, I have provided specifics and support for my statements along with my opinions.

I'm thinking that you're probably either a proud student at UCR or a proud alumn. Either way, I pity you. If you disagree with any of my statements on a factual basis, then of course I and everyone else would appreciate your input.

Stay out of Riverside

Actually, if you look at all my other posts, you will find that I'm from GA and will be attending GW. I don't know very much about Riverside, I just find it odd that all of a sudden, out of no where, people with low post counts(2-20) pop up to attack one random school. I have no bias for or against Riverside. I just think that by comparing writing styles, post counts, and topics, I think my hypothesis is supported. Of course, I might be wrong, but I normally am not.

If you actually examined the relevant threads, you'd find that a multitude of people, with varying post counts, have responded in a very negative fashion about UCR. Are you going to suggest that I am the same person as these others?

"I have no bias for or against Riverside. I just think that by comparing writing styles, post counts, and topics, I think my hypothesis is supported."

While I don't think it unreasonable of you to come to your conclusion, you might want to consider that that you've come to a very concrete conclusion from mere circumstantial evidence. If you're truly as intelligent as you think you are, I challenge you to come up with the actual explanation for your observations.

"Of course, I might be wrong, but I normally am not."

Guess what. You're wrong.

Stay out of Riverside

Gw's urban campus is great! I graduated from there in 71...loved it then, love it now. It's much more built up, obviously, but the aura is pure excitement. So close to everything, but still its own little enclave. Stroll along tree-lined streets (of course, filled with greater traffic now than 3+ decades ago), but still lovely. Plus it's an easy stroll to the Kennedy Center, the infamous Watergate, scenic Potomac River, and trendy Georgetown. GWU's a winner.

Just to throw it out there folks. UVA is the only school in the entire world included in the United Nations World Heritage List, along with the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, Versailles, and the Egyptian Pyramids.

crash- i'm thinking of going to st john's at md. what was it like?
