@caleegalee we are homeschoolers and got the letter sent to the principal but have yet to get the letter to the student.
They send rejection letters too?
the rejection letters were sent out about a month ago
@caleegalee yes they send letters to the homes of NMSFs not advancing to finalist two or three weeks earlier. Around mid January.
OH! Good to know. Thanks!
Isn’t this a great place to learn.
Re the C. My son had a C and still got NMF. So did some of the other NMF at his school. So getting a C is not a deal breaker.
School got certificates long a week ago but still hasn’t told students. I only know because I asked. I do see her letter in our informed delivery for today in NorCal.
Received my letter in Idaho!
Yes; @Booajo - $5k/yr for Vandy which is where she applied and got in ED. But a painful pill to swallow when she could have gotten almost $200K from some others. Oh well. Easy come, easy go, right? LOL
Got the NMSC follow-up letter at the house today in SoCal. Congrats to everyone who’s gotten good news! If you haven’t heard yet, hang in there. You can call NMSC on Monday to find out for sure.
FINALLY got the letter at home Thursday evening! Missed the opportunity to put NMF on one key scholarship app, but it is what it is. No word from the school and now we are on a 4-day break, but at least DS has the info. This has been a far, far less-stressful ride in our house (compared to NMF a few years ago), so I will not complain. Also, I’m still mindful of the grieving parents in FLA, so the wind is just out of my sails this week. Congratulations to all NMFs and thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread! We still have a few more DCs to go in our house…not sure if they will even be in the running when the time comes…but I know where to go if I need virtual friends to hold my had along the way.
Got our letter in Austin, Texas today! Not that my son cared, but I was happy to have the confirmation!!!
Letter received in CA despite a C on transcript!
Here’s to fellow Californians with a C on the transcript. Received ours today in Socal.
Confirmation letter received in Jacksonville, FL!
received the confirmation letter today. Unfortunately the first school of choice for DS has deferred him. He has admissions from other schools. Anyone knows how to let the schools know that he has been selected as a finalist?
@ak200008, just have your son email or call admissions to add NMF to his file for any schools where he’s waiting on decisions. If there’s a chance that he might receive a bump in merit aid from the schools where he’s already been accepted, it doesn’t hurt to email or call those schools either.
Thanks @traveler98. Will do that. Couple of schools where he has admissions does give merit aid if they have been selected as the #1. Not sure if it is possible to change it now. Even if it is possible, if his school of choice admits him later from the deferred pool, he’ll end up going there with or without merit aid. So not sure how to make use of his NMF status
He can change his #1 school choice with NMSC pretty easily by logging into his NM account @ak200008, and there is still plenty of time for him to do so. NMSC sends out the first list to colleges March 1, but they will send the list multiple times to capture updates over the next couple of months. I think NMF can actually make changes in the #1 school choice until at least April, though I would advise calling NMSC to have them walk you through the exact timing. Definitely good for your S to figure out his top choices from among his current acceptances, and if one of those schools offers scholarships for NMF update to list that one with NMSC. That way if his deferral turns into a rejection he’s set for a scholarship at the NMF school, with no harm done if his deferral becomes an acceptance because that school doesn’t offer an NMF scholarship.
Does only that #1 school get notified or can non #1 schools also see which school is your first choice?
