Meh, got into lehigh>>too much money, and others. Not sure where to go

Hmmm.. let's see, in the first week, almost all of the descisions were acceptances, but as soon as Friday arrrives, a wave of rejections appear. Descisions were sent out "randomly"? I think not.

Yep. Exactly my thought.

(Waitlisted)

I love how no college will ever say you're "rejected" - you're "not admitted" or they're "unable to offer you admission" (MIT).

stelikepalli: you're right, this can't be chance. I've heard of other colleges doing the same thing, which is pretty much how I found out my Stanford decision (waitlisted).

Speaking of waitlisting, what are you supposed to DO? By the time you find out about your waitlist result, you've already had to reply to other colleges. So what do you do?

Waitlisted. SCS and Tepper.

Does anyone know whether CMU takes a lot of people from the waiting list?

Waitlisted HSS, rejected TSB

nsdlevin, USnews source says that CMU took 61.22% of the people on the waitlist last year. But it does not say how many were on the priority waitlist, and how many were not.

what kinds of ppl are put on the priority waitlist?

Carrera,

Thanks. Do you know how that breaks down by school (like what is the percentage of acceptance from waitlist for tepper, scs, hss, etc)? Also, do you have a link to the site that says it's 62.22%?

Qualified applicants placed on waiting list: 2,941
Applicants accepting a place on waiting list: 294
Students enrolled from waiting list: 180

This is all I have. Looks like only 10% of the people waitlisted decided to stay on the waitlist. And out of those, over 60% were admitted.

CMU243: I am not 100% sure, but I think anyone can chose to be on the priority waitlist. The difference is that if you are on the priority waitlist, and CMU decides that they have an open space for you, then you are expected to attend.

Reply to your top choice of admits with the deposit, required paper work, etc - enroll normally. If you get in from the waitlist, simply tell the original school you no longer wish to attend - unenroll and lose your deposit fee - and enroll at the new school.
