The Offical Desicion Thread!

Do they send out rejections also in the first batch?

Accepted to MCS, Prospective Physics Major

GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 10 AP courses total. Most rigorous curriculum.
SAT I: 1550
SAT II: 800 Math IIC, 800 Physics, 800 Writing

Really good math rec, also had a really nice rec from a professor who I did research with.

I thought my EC's were very strong, I had lots of awards in music (have played piano and cello for the last ten years), lots of science awards, and good volunteering/misc. stuff.

Essays were fine, I thought.

Although I did not apply for their Humanities/Sciences dual program, they invited me anyway, based on what they felt was my academic well-roundedness. Carnegie Scholarship as well.

Joey

mishra: if you get both, you get to choose whichever you want to go to. Also, I BELIEVE you can double major in any school you wish (maybe excluding music or anything that requires audition). I might be completely making that up though so dont quote me on that.

Some students who applied to CFA by audition got their rejection yesterday. I have not heard of one student yet who has an acceptance from CFA.

oh gosh i want my letter

So does anyone know for sure when things will be posted online? I've heard three days after mailing, and that would mean tomorrow if they were mailed the 22nd.

I know a CFA student who was admitted last week. Clearly, the dates for decision letters are only approximate!

alright there is soo much confusion on this board so let me try clearing everything up for everyone.....first of all there is no set date for you to know if you are getting accepted/deffered/waitlisted. The admission office for reasons i cannot comprehend are sending RANDOM bunchs of accepted/deffered/waitlisted letters everyday...for instance i called them and they told me mine would be Monday the 28th, however that doesnt mean that yours will be monday it could be anyday from march 21 (When the first batch went out) to april 15 ( the last bunch goes out),..now there will probably be outliers that have found out before or whatever whoever runs admissions at CMU is not doing a very good job in my opinion..lol... as for you finding out online...you will find out 3!!!! days after your letter has been mailed...so that means i will be able to view my particular desicion on the 24th on the website...more than likely you will recieve your letter before u can check online...some kids are finding out now some kids will find out later in a week or whenever there is no set date. hope that clears everything up for everyone!

Was this CFA applicant an actor or musical theater student?

tashi87-
someone called admissions today and was told that it would be online 5 days after mailing. BUT there has been a lot of contradictory info today.

When do you guys think they will change the 2003-2004 statistics to the 2004-2005 statistics on the cmu site?

In response to Logitech's post... I'm not sure if its a coincidence that I was one of the first to get the letter.....but I sent my app to Carnegie way early (I could've sent it early enough to be Early Decision but chose regular). So that might factor in when they mail yours. Or it could just be pish posh.

I was accepted Early Decision. Do you guys think they would announce any financial awards I may have won through my financial aid eligibility letter or through the "official fat letter"? The financial aid eligibility letter is scheduled to arrive at my place tomorrow, but I've already received the fat letter, so I'm hoping if I did win any awards, they will be with the letter tomorrow.

stop stressing ur already in and u will find out tomorrow if u get money for financial aid...sit back relax watch some tv or go out and chill with ur friends...lol i find doing something illegal always helps me take my mind off things but thats just me...

yo guys
online decisions are up
i just got accepted to CIT and SCS

That's awesome, congratulations.

Mine isn't up yet.

My letter was postmarked the 21st, and my online decision just came up. So it's exactly three days for those who weren't sure.

not mine more waiting remeber its 3 days after ur letter was mailed out not everyoen is going to see their desicion on the same day
