The official 2009 APUSH after exam discussion thread

Am I the only one who picked 3 and 5 for the essays?

Everyone I talked to at my school did 2 and 5; myself, I did 2 and 4. 2 was ridiculously easy.

I wrote about 3 pages for the DBQ which seems short compared to other peoples. For FR, about 2 pages for the Part B and a little over a page for Part C. But I included key points for both the DBQ and FR’s. Hopefully, its enough for me to get at least a 5 on each of them.

Quality, not quantity.

I’m a bit nervous now. I added some stuff as add ons to my DBQ that occured a couple of years after the timeline. Nothing drastic, Nat Turner’s rebellion (1831 i think) plus an add on about abolitionists and the underground railroad. How bad is this gonna hurt me. These things weren’t the main focus of he essay.

Thank you, I am definitely not aiming for an eight or nine…do you think I could pull off like, five-sevens? I think I did fairly well on multiple choice…probably got at least a 60…

ughhh it’s so sad we have to wait until July!

The test wasn’t really that hard… But I only finished 60 questions because the freaking proctor never told us what time we were suppose to stop(or how many minutes we had left)

Flipper, I did 3 and 5 I’m like the only one at my school and CC

They were–they tried to get every piece of reformation in their advocacy and accepted everyone openly.

I guess. But that’s like front and back; you mean like 4-6 pages man, because they should be counted separately. Lol

I think many people probably misinterpreted 2.

i thought the mc was pretty good. i was able to elimate a lot of wrong answers. the dbq time period was weird but i think i did okay considering that the documents didn’t really help much. as for the free response, i beasted 2 and i did great on 5 except 4 a minor mistake. i am prayer that i at least get a 4! another thing, all of my essays were 2 pages long (which is the same as when i write them in class). i felt like i got my point out. my teacher also said that conclusions really don’t matter and they dont even really look at it when grading so i did not spend anytime on conclusions except for like a sentence that summarized the point of the essay. i’m praying that i get a 4!
what are my chances?

2 and 5 for me, both weren’t bad at all. As far as citing documents in the DBQ, my teacher always said never to go “According to document A…” or to put (Document A) in brackets or parentheses at the end of a statement. He always said to use the actual name of the document, and I agree with him, it definitely flows better. MC weren’t too bad, should’ve done fine (didn’t leave any blank). Woo it’s over!

I did 3 and 5 too =)

if you use all the documents, but misinterpret a couple of them, will they take off points for that? Because technically aren’t you just only needed to use one more than half the amt of docs? So would anything extra, even if wrong, be disregarded?

Wrong = bad, period. It shouldn’t be there if it’s erroneous. (They could ignore one or two minor things, if the piece is pretty long. But it’s always going to be detrimental.)

What’s this mean?

I believe form R and Q were the same because I caught glimpses of the pages and the questions seemed alike (the picture/comic ones at least) and in the same places, and my class mentioned things about the exam after, and it seemed we all had the same questions.

I thought the MC was okay. I felt WAYYY more prepared for that than the FRQs.
The DBQ was okay, but I blanked out on FRQ 4, so I did 5. BS’d that and had no clue what to write for 2 or 3.
I’m praying for a 4.

what I was trying to ask earlier, was, if you had for example form R or form Q, is your test curved differently depending on the form? also, is one form typically more difficult than the other?

Also, my DBQ was 2 pages (small writing though). And my FRQs were about 1.5 pages each. Is that okay?? /: Sounds like a lot of people write a lot more

If that means front and back that’s definitely very, very little. Sure, you could have the same amount of content as others, but it gives off the appearance of a smaller amount of content!!

so… realistic question.
If I answered a FRQ and 2/3 of my essay was outside the time frame (I literally misread the question beyond a bummer) but I did address the question in the entire essay and used the right time frame for 1/3 of the essay (it was one of those essays where you had to choose TWO so I used the right time frame for one of the two), is that an automatic 0 or do I have a chance at a couple of points? I need realistic responses…

in general, I thought the test was easy. it’s weird that I am calm despite the fact that I might literally get a 0 on an essay. But the deal is, I think I rocked the rest, and I know I can make up for it (love MC)! I guess whatever happens happens, right? I didn’t study for hours all year for nothing–hopefully it pays off!

good luck everyone!!!

How difficult is it to get a 5/9 on the DBQ and FRQs?

How many points would you get if all you wrote on an FRQ was your outline?
