The official 2009 APUSH after exam discussion thread

Word of advice dont talk about the MC or specifically about the essay questions. I saw a few of you actually talking about the questions. Just wondering, do they look through this and cancel scores?

Kind of unrelated: When filling in the serial number in the bubbles on the answer sheet, were we supposed to skip a bubble where the space was?

Right. There should be a balance between the document usage and your own outside analysis. Using 8 docs with little outside information will get you no more than a 4… and vice versa.

Was I the only one that thought the whole exam was ridiculously easy? I expect to get at least 8s on all the essays but that’s being a little conservative. I doubt I missed more than one on the multiple choice as well.

I thought it was a lot easier than the APUSH kids from last year made it out to be. I’ve been taking MC practice questions that came from the teacher’s version of American Pageant, and I honestly failed almost every quiz. But when I took the test today, I flew through MC. The hardest part for me personally was the DBQ.

gotta agree with gifted, my senior friends told me “it was so hard i studied for days, and i still got a 2”, but i didnt study a day, and though it was ok.

I picked 2 and 5, as did almost everyone at my school…haha.

I heard the MC was a fresh batch of questions, an experimental batch, because they released last year’s (2008) exam.

i’ll just posit that i thought it was easy, especially the frq’s. little bit upset i spent my week cramming for this instead of euro. relieved, anyway.

also, glad the dbq was more like the euro one. much more analysis of primary sources. that was niceeee.

Lol, could they actually find you based on just your cc account?

You use it to show a caveat and opposition to your thesis. Then demonstrate how it’s false with the rest of the documents.

For this DBQ, however, all you needed to do was show different points of view–nothing really directly contracted one another…

Mayhaps you are wise, ;]

You can also call them detention camps/detention centers.

People say this then tell me they have no clue how I wrote 13 pages…well you wonder why, right?

What abolitionists could you mention during that era, anyways?

But notwithstanding that, I feel if you made a decent attempt, you can at least come out by something 5 or so-ish? They won’t take off for the scratch marks…I did quite a few myself, I think.

I called them quasi-POW camps. I hope that’s not too incorrect. I had a brain freeze.

I wrote my first FRQ in the wrong order in my test booklet…as in I skipped a page after my DBQ (the fourth page) and began writing my FRQ on the fifth page, but I accidentally continued my FRQ on the skipped fourth page and finished it on the sixth page, so that if you flip through my booklet, the second page of my FRQ comes before the first page, which comes before the last page. I caught my mistake at the end and wrote some notes in the corners to clarify the order of my FRQ, but will my score be compromised?

Overall, not to bad…

I did 2 and 4. I thought the DBQ was a surprise - not necessarily hard, but not what I expected in any way.

And…REA Crash Course OWNED that test. Amazing. I read it the night before, and so many of the little details/hints it provided popped up on the test! Larry Krieger is my BFF.

So for the DBQ, I used all of the documents and included a good amount of outside information, but the actual construction of my essay was extremely sloppy (it wasn’t very well written and didn’t have very good flow, but was almost 6 pages long). Also, I think I may have misinterpreted one of the documents (the picture one, with the church—in my DBQ its reference was kind of a sore thumb). Would this be a 6? 7 maybe? I’m really confused by the essay/DBQ grading.

Thats what i was wondering ThePerson1, has anyone actually gotten their scores cancelled, i mean im still not gonna talk about the test because it is not fair for the people that are going to take it on the 20th.

Look at the top sticky in this forum.

FR 2 and 5 baby. MC easier than most i’ve taken. I guessed on around 10–but I narrowed each of those 10 down to at least 3 questions.

I’m definately looking for a 5… but it seemed really easy this year, so maybe the curve will be lower.

wheres the top sticky?

what is the top sticky

OMG the freakin DBQ asked like two questions in one prompt. I felt like my thesis was soo long and went in circles

but other than that, it wasnt THAT bad.
