The official 2009 APUSH after exam discussion thread

so on the grading rubic for frqs when it says “thesis,” does it specifically mean a stated one-line thesis at the start of the frq? or just a general theme/argument clear throughout

2 and 5 also.

Did anybody mention specific legislation for the FRQ that was #5? I mentioned the New Deal, but I didn’t have time to actually go into detail about any act like the NRA or whatever. I feel like it’s a loose end; similarly, was there legislation to mention for the Japanese ?

ok so I’m kind of freaking out here
cause I wrote my essay in pencil instead of pen
so I rewrote it on top of my pencil
I erased the rewritten part but for like five lines I couldn’t erase the
part where pen and pencil overlap - cause the time was over
and I don’t know if this is going to effect my grade
can anyone tell me plzzz
I heard writing in pencil is sometimes okay
but what about overlapping line!? stupid proctor didn’t let me erase
the five line I had…:(

2 and 5, but the m.c. was so hard!!!

I did ok on the DBQ…could of done better.

Well if it was done well no, the thing is that they take pictures of it, and they read of the pictures.

Did any one feel like if the Essays were unexpected, i mean slavery and colonialism? i was thinking WW2 or Social reform.

joker23,thanks for replying so quickly
the problem is I was rushing as the pencil writing and the pen writing didn’t exactly fit
so for like 5 lines its kind of hard to read… should I tell college board about my situation?
the proctor said that shes going to send some kind of letter to them

It wont really matter if you send them a letter, chances are theyll be able to read it, i mean my teacher was a test scorer and she told us that they try really hard to get everything right.

2 and 5. I thought the essays were very good, but MC was difficult.

Thank you so much!!! you just saved my day
anyway I wrote 2 and 5 ! I loved the DBQ!
but MC was harsh harsh harsh…
by the way how hard is it to get around 7/9 in essays?

I thought the MC was easier than usual, but the essays were weird, i mean i did ok in the first 2, but in the last one i was burnt.

ugh, when can we talk about the MCs? Dieing to ask a question about one of the MCs.

To get a perfect u have to have all the dbqs in the essay and have a good source of outside information, for example in the nuber 2 i put the proclamation of 1763, the Townshend acts (intolerable acts), and the theory of virtual representaion. To get 7-8 u need some of both, and to get a 5 u need to show u understand the topic.

thank you so much! helped me understand my score
if they read it and grade it right
Im hoping for a 4! (I thought I’d failed this test but…feeling alittle relieved)

good to hear, so good luck to every one, especially if you are taking another AP test.

The essays were alright, nothing too severe, i think i got anywhere from a 6-8 on most of them.

The MC was not what I expected, much more challenging. Does anyone know if College Board curves by which test form you recieved?

Yup they curve it, so technically you are fighting against other students, i think thats how it should be.

CRAP did we have to cite each doc in the DBQ bc i didnt explicity put (doc) after each one… am i skrewed?

the essays were decent.
