Are you kidding me? That is the only reason I have a hope of getting a 5. I took APUSH last summer and the only preparation I did was reading Crash Course the night before.
and I’m feeling really confident. :]

Six documents is fine. The rule of thumb is half + 1. So if there were nine documents, half (round up) would be five, plus one is six. You probably used more outside information than you thought you did. Breathe!

"uggh oh yea and crash course helped on like 3 questions… rip off.

Crash Course = amazing"

Same here thats all i did 4-12 the day before cause i was busy all week painting for AP art that was due today also.

What? Since when are you supposed to literally cite the docs on the DBQ? I’m pretty sure you all are thinking of the synthesis (i believe thats the one) essay on the language exam. My teacher told us specifically multiple times not to actually mention the Document (e.g. Doc A says) but just to use whatever you need from them

I don’t think it matters whether you cite explicitly or not… you just need to make sure you use the documents’ information effectively along with your own information.

The essay part was not that bad to me, and I actually hated the multiple choice questions. I am hoping for a 5 but I probably got a 4.

That AMSCO book really helped me and so did the APUSH Cram Packet that I studied the night before. Also, my friend and I were going over some of the things we forgot just before the test and we were flipping through her study guide right before the test, which helped me to answer a lot of questions.

It’s not necessarily length that get’s you a high score on the essays. So whoever made the statement that they’re worried they only wrote 2 pages on the FRQ, don’t be. I wrote about one and a half each but know I wrote gooooood essays.

I’m hoping for a 5, but expecting a 4… I know I did fairly well on MC, and I usually do really well on essays so hopefully a 5 Oh and I selected 2 & 5.

You never explicitly cite the document in your essay. Well, at least that’s what my APUSH teacher said all year and what I did for the DBQ today. I just quoted some key points onto my essay.

Anyways, if you were talking about the Great Awakening for the DBQ, but instead of talking about the Second One, which is what you’re referencing, you refer to the First/Great Awakening only, do you think it’ll be a big problem?

I just realized I forgot to write Second, roflcopters :P

I finishes the MC with ten minutes to spare. I only skipped two and I only guessed three. I know for a fact I missed one because I looked it up. I did FRQs 2 and 5 and wrote just over two pages for each in my tiny writing. I originally freaked out when I saw the DBQ, but I got over myself and hammered out three and half pages. Finished the essays with seven minutes to spare. I feel pretty good, but it was my first AP test, and I talked to a bunch of people who thought they did well last year and failed. So, I can only wish for the best.

That’s odd. On the DBQ essay page itself, it says “…cite key pieces of evidence from the documents…” But since teachers teach that you should and some say you shouldn’t explicitly cite, it probably has little to no effect on the grader. Explicit references just help them out, and that isn’t too bad of an idea when they’ve already read 200 of them… ;)

I kinda feel like an idiot now. from what i’ve heard gasp the mc i got wrongwere the “easy” ones and the one i got right? the obscure questions that nobody else knew. haha hopefully itll even out

It does matter. The grade doesn’t want to sit there skimming your essay just to find that you worded the docs differently… it’s all about strategy. YOU NEED TO HELP THE READER. and that means explicitly listing the docs and circling them or something, underlining outside info and your main points… and of course writing neatly-- can you imagine what would happen if your essay had all these things and your’s was last in the pile??? it would be a god send and i’d probably give it an 8 or a 9.
