<p>Other thoughts: admission into any school like this is lottery. I was just one of the lucky ones.</p>
<p>I'm waitlisted. Waitlist sucks though. Did you read the email...they notify in late May which is past the date to notify other schools of your attendance. So, basically, you give up all other schools to have a CHANCE on the MIT waitlist. Ew.</p>
<p>No, barberconcerto -- you send in your deposit to another school by May 1, then if you're accepted off the waitlist, you notify the other school and lose your deposit.</p>
<p>You might want to check out Matt's waitlist</a> post from last year. Last year, 30 students were admitted off the waitlist, and they were notified starting on May</a> 9.</p>

<p>My guess is that this year MIT's and other top schools' yield will be less than last year simply because it seems that top kids are applying to many more schools than before. Does anybody know how many acceptances they sent out?<br>
mathwiz, in many respects Olin is way better than MIT for someone interested in engineering undergraduate. Congrats!!</p>
