Wow the Vanderbilters are coming out of the woodworks. What in particular do you guys like about the school? I mean when I visited I liked several aspects but I couldn't get over the whole southern elitist deal.

Word...I kinda liked Vanderbilt when I visited until I realized that I could never go to school in an area where people voted for Bush and still think they are smart...oops...didn't mean to really type that ;-)

Nah that part didn't bother me. I was just worried that everybody on campus would be M.J. from The Real World.

Wow Nicky Jane, I can't believe you said that Vanderbilt people "think they are smart". Maybe the typical "Vandy girl" seems a little ditzy, but I take offense to that statement. I happen to have a sibling at Vanderbilt who was accepted at MIT, but chose Vanderbilt instead. And by the way, its kinda sad that you "could never go to a school where people voted for Bush". If you are such a liberal, shouldn't you be a little more open minded?

Haha Tenacious J, it just so happens that MJ was a football player. He doesn't really represent the whole Vandy student body very well.

Highest level of education:
High School: 51%Bush 48% Kerry
Bachelors: 48%Bush 52%Kerry
Masters: 44% Bush 55%Kerry
PhD: 41% Bush 59%Kerry

I wasn't saying anything against Vanderbilt really...more against bushies/the south. I'm glad your sibling was accepted at MIT but I don't particularly care, and I think that is yet another reason why I wouldn't want to go there...I couldn't live in an area where the students are constantly trying to impress others.

Also, I could absolutely never go to a school where the majority of people were Bush lovers because this would show they had absolutely no political knowledge, not necessarily in terms of the US, but on an international level. Bush has alienated virtually every country to the extent where we are completely ****ed. I won't even go into the homophobia issue...anyway, I don't want to debate over politics. I'm simply saying I couldn't live in a place like that for four years.

School- Cornell Engineering
When: December 10th after 5PM
How: Online
When: after 5PM
Where: My computer, all by myself, i told my parents i would know the decision on saturday, this way there won't be any pressure on friday about did i get in or not, and if i did i'll just tell them, and if i didn't i can compose myself and tell them that

Accepted: Tell everyone, happy as i have never been

Deferred: Tell some people, be really sad

Rejected: Never saw it coming, i honestly don't know how i would handle it

Hey Nicky Jane, just curious- Where did you get those stats? I have never seen those before. Anyways, I guess that we have a difference of opinion here. I happen to belive that Kerry lovers happen to have no political knowledge, both in the US and internationally. Good thing more voters agreed with me last month and us "Bush lovers" won. Anyway, I am actually glad that you don't like the school. Hopefully others with similar beliefs will feel the same way and I won't happen to encounter any of you if I am accepted because who wants to debate with a person with no political knowledge, right?

LOL. Okay, well I'm not sure how informed you are, but right before the election the major countries of the world were asked who they thought would make a better President. Only two picked Bush: Russia and Israel.

I realize this is going to sound somewhat snotty, but I would also like to point out that highly educated people in this country are sadly outnumbered by people who base their vote on stupid things: i.e. gay marriage, and "values". You may disagree with me, but as MANY MANY political analysts have said, this election was not decided on issues. It was decided on so called "morals" and "values"...and I for one and very glad that I won't be going to a school where people think it is immoral to allow equality for all, and the MORAL thing is to amend the constitution and limit our rights.

School - Bryn Mawr

When You Expect to Hear - Any day now...(before Dec. 15)

How, Where, When, and With whom you plan to receive your decision - with my mom hovering over me saying "open it, open it!"

What You Will do if Accepted/ Rejected (or Waitlisted) -
accepted: won't believe it, be thrilled, throw a party...
deferred: not be too upset, it's what I expect will happen
reject: be in a state of shock, start stalking Wellesley (2nd choice)

First, I would like to say that I am very informed, but thanks for checking. Secondly, I really don't want to get into the issue of gay marriage, but I would like to say that Vanderbilt has a bad rep for the whole equality issue that you are talking about. Infact, I am looking at the 2004 Vanderbilt yearbook right now and I see plenty of people that don't fit the sterotypical Vandy mold. Maybe since you are from the liberal north (or as you would say- NEW YORK BABY!!!!!), you think that just because there are some frat guys and pretty girls, the whole student population is against equality for all, but you would be wrong (just like you are about politics).

By the way, you never said where you got those stats. I guess that means you just made them up.
