the Official im taking your DAMN spot at UCLA/CAL thread

@mikei - well thank you, I didn’t know that about Stanford’s pedagogical philosophy. Turns out my entire Common App essay was talking about my journey from a college bound high school kid to not applying to any colleges and becoming a non profit advocate to not applying to college at all to all my nonprofit work in the last 4 years and then about being at a ceiling as far as my ability to incite change without a world class education, then my desire to be a civil rights attorney. Hence my reasons for transfer and my eventual objectives albeit not the most focused in answering the prompt, I thought it was all relevant. In any case, there’s got to be another 980 students better but I am giving it my best.

Since you asked so nicely.

Other: non-trad student…overcame extremely difficult circumstances

hahaha the premise of this thread is hilarious, thanks @sfwarrior25 your stats look like they will slice through butter like a…chainsaw, a warm one

@thelongshot im pretty sure stanford is looking for diversity and personal qualities in transfers more than stats which are heavier for freshmen…so you look pretty good too

lol @ kapitanemo

Well, alright, as long as I’ve been here I’ve never posted my stats:

Let me be the first to say to the other UCLA Poli Sci and CAL PAC’s majors- bring it on! I’m taking your damn spot!

Major: UCLA- Political Science, CAL- Peace and Conflict Studies
School: Pierce College (Best Transfer rate to UCLA in the LACCD)
UC GPA: 3.9 (Damn sociology- why the heck did I even take it?)
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Complete
pre-reqs: 100% for UCLA, but CAL switched a few history requirements a month ago, so 75%
TAG/TAP: Nope- I like to gamble.
EC’s:

  • Army Reserve- been in 6 years, got 3 left. Did one round in Iraq (talked about in 1st essay) and I’ll do another in Afghanistan next year, but I can probably fit in 2 or 3 quarters.
  • Volunteer for an org that sends care boxes to the troops by teaming up with local struggling business, therefore getting them back on track (talked about in 2nd essay)
  • Some hippie organizations who like fighting budget cuts at school
  • NRA Competitions (I don’t think Berkeley is gonna like that tho…)
  • NRA Women’s Safety Programs
  • DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution)
  • Worked at a local firing range 30+ hrs for over a year (Another thing Berkeley will frown on) while in school
Essay: Linked my civil affairs service in Iraq to how I want to focus on making California and my hometown a better place before spending American tax dollars on other countries. They love that stuff, even if I liberalized it a bit. Very Miss America essay, so we’ll see.
Other: Cal is my 2nd choice, but I will literally go on a rampage if I don’t get into UCLA. sigh There’s always UCSB!

I am taking your damn spot! Suckas!

“- NRA Competitions […] but I will literally go on a rampage if I don’t get into UCLA.”

-kernlsanders

That’s not a red flag at all; carry on, literally.

LMAO- oops- Good call lintij (who I assume is the reincarnation of vintij)!!

Hereto forthwith let it be known that I, kernlsanders, do not plan to go nor have I ever gone on rampages with guns at college campuses, nor do I condone such rampages on college campuses by any other parties. I hereby absolve myself of any related guilt or influence of said rampages that may occur after this point by frequenters of College Confidential.

Other kinds of rampages, however, I’m all about those.

If any of you are homestarrunner fans, then you know what I mean: [Lappy 486](Lappy 486 - Sbemails 128 - rampage - Homestar Runner)

Too late kernel. The board of regents has flagged you, and the FBI is looking into it. I’m told Obama has been informed as well.

guess what lintij I am taking your damned spot too. Sucka!

@kernlsanders pierce college has the highest admit rate to UCLA? I thought it was Santa Monica College

^^ SMC isnt in LACCD.

ps. stop going on cc and TEXT ME BACK!!!

Wow- my security clearance was pulled already… oh well, as long as CC keeps me around…

And you’re right SF- no clue what SMC’s transfer rate is. I wonder why they aren’t in the LACCD. Is Santa Monica its own actual incorporated city? That might have no effect, bc West LA CC is in culver city, and they are incorporated… hmmm… a CC mystery.

this is a pretty mean spirited thread - yet I am riveted.

The only way any of you could take my spot is if you applied to my major with equal or better stats. You may take someone’s spot, but it’s not going to be mine. Don’t matter though, I’ve been under pressure lately to choose UCLA over UCB for logistical/geographical reasons, so If I get into both I’m effed because I can’t choose. I hope one denies me to be honest.

I am going to TAKE both of your spots at UCLA and UCB! Muahahaha <----evil laugh!
