Awards: Presidents List (four times); several scholarships

Other: I’m too good for these schools though. I’m going to Stanford.

UCLA and Cal both have pretty high acceptance rates for transfers so this won’t be the death race you’re making it out to be but if you want to go there my friend, well here we go:

Major: Philosophy
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: all finished except for the LAB that goes with one of the sciences
Pre-Reqs: all finished
TAG/TAP: none
Units Completed: 67 (21 from APs)
Essays: it’s hard to judge myself but I’m a published author so I hope they’re okay for my sake lol
ECs: I founded a non profit foundation in high school to train the homeless in basic job training skills, didn’t apply to any colleges. I have been running it and engaged heavily in the community starting another foundation and serving on the board and planning committees of several more for the last 4 years before returning to college. In the meantime I also wrote a lot and ended up becoming a published minor-award winning author. Life goals are philanthropy, civil rights law and creative writing.

I’m also applying to Stanford in which I think I have no shot but others seem to think I may so I have very high hopes for you to get into both schools as your resume is fantastic, and I hope I get in with you.

Best of luck :)

Hey laker, I’ve seen you all over these threads and as a lover of humanity I’m telling you, universities do not like “female nether region cleaning device” bags. Just a hint of advice.

All the Best,
Longshot

i didn’t actually apply to stanford. i was just ■■■■■■■■

u will be rejected btw

^^ Best of luck to you as well :). what are your sat scores just for comparisons sake? i seriously hope we are the two lucky ones who receive stanford acceptance letters come june :)

Laker you’re probably right, thank you, you’re one of the few to actually say that to me because it’s probably the truth man lol

SFWarrior, the Stanford admissions counselor said my SAT unfortunately won’t count for much seeing as how I’m 6 years removed from taking it but I had a 1440/1600 so it would be nice for it to count. In any case, Stanford’s admissions for transfer are so ridiculously low it’s the crap shot of all crap shoots. But best of luck to you sir. I haven’t finished polishing off the essays that must be turned in in two days lol

^^I already turned in my app so its a waiting game from here on out. my essays blew, i just know it haha. i sure hope they count your sats those of phenomenal scores. i hope my 1580/1600 2320/2400 impresses them haha(which i doubt).

1580 and 2320 are absolutely incredible, congratulations!

What did you talk about in your short essays on the supplement and in the additional information section of the Common Application? If you don’t mind me asking.

(By the way, there is an official Stanford Transfer 2010 thread if you want to check over there.)

3.72
Latin American/Spanish
Pretty sure I’m the only person on CC applying to this major lmao!

Good luck everybody! (Buena suerte todos :P)

Not applying to UCLA, but here’s my UCB info:

Major: Political Economy
GPA: 3.93
IGETC: Completed
Prereqs: Completed
Units: 60
ECs: Volunteer for police department, internship with International Campaign for Tibet
Work: Part-time for city recreational department
Essays: Decent. I didn’t work too hard on them though, I’ll admit.

@longshot
for the intellectual vitality part i wrote about my individual pursuits in advanced mathematics(im teaching myself upper div math for the sake of intellectual pursuit in physics).
roommate question- i tend to find humor in most things. although it gets annoying at times, i love to lighten the mood. blah blah
why stanford? - dream school, stellar academics, same old same old haha.

That doesn’t sound too bad man, you’re essays seem just fine to me. Seems like you’ve got a real good shot. They’re taking 20-30 this year out of an applicant pool of 900-1000, in which almost half of them are relatively average GPA/EC type students, which is not to say that’s bad at all, it just narrows it down from what I hear from the Stanford Transfer Admission counselors.

How were your letters of recommendation?

2 are stellar from ccc professors. one is from a stanford alum. im trying to get a 4th from a professor at stanford. id say pretty good.

Very nice! Wow, these next couple months are gonna be so nerve wracking lol

SFWarrior,

Did you apply to Cal Tech or MIT? You seem to have a good chance at those schools as they are mostly concerned with superior academics whereas Stanford is mostly concerned with innovative entrepreneurial extracurricular(s) above excellent academics.

thelongshot,

Although Stanford admissions are unpredictable, I would say you are one of the most likely to be admitted here on CC. Of the 7 or so alumni I know, I know THREE alumni who started nonprofits. Stanford knows their degree opens doors and if they see that you have the intellect and drive to make good-hearted change, then they will want to equip you with their degree.

No one else on here seems to be applying for EECS, so… there’s no real point.

@mikei
I didn’t apply to MIT. I am probably rejected to caltech because i screwed up the transfer exam. probably died on the mechanics portion of the physics. hehe i cant remember that crap anymore.
