The Official M10 2019 Freakout Thread

People who argue that there is a difference between ranks 1 and 2 on niche (or USNWR when we’re talking about colleges) need to take Statistics 101 before weighing an opinion.

@YoungThriver if a weekly stipend will materially change your experience in high school, then that is an important consideration. It might be worthwhile to have a conversation with the FA folks at PEA if you think the lack of stipend would limit your opportunity to be included in activities off campus with friends. The most important consideration in my experience on selecting a school should be where you see yourself being comfortable in order to succeed. If you stay true to that- you can’t go wrong!

@vegas1 Thank you. I’m also wondering if it’s possible for me to ask the admissions office to put me in contact with a student on a full scholarship at PEA. Would that be ok? I don’t want to intrude.

@YoungThriver it definitely doesn’t hurt to ask to be connected with a student on full FA. At a minimum, I would ask them to answer any questions about how being on full FA will impact your experience at PEA. I’m sure they have gotten similar questions in the past and should be able to make you comfortable with your decision. This way, no matter what choice you make, it will be on the accurate information, vs just emotions.

@YoungThriver but you were so committed to andover before! if you don’t mind me asking, what changed your mind?

@ffsophiar My mind hasn’t totally changed but that Exeter revisit was sort of convincing. I’m at 50/50 right now. Andover’s revisit is coming up and it’ll probably be just as convincing.

Have you committed yet?

I’m so excited for my revisits tomorrow and Friday! I landed in Hartford today—first plane ride ever, which was a wild experience.

@CavsFan2003 Have a wonderful time!

@CavsFan2003, hopefully it’s a good sign that you were fortunate enough to come to CT over what is probably the nicest few days that I can remember. Enjoy your visits this week!

first plane ride ever

Oh, the things you will see and do. I’m super excited for you, @CavsFan2003!

@CTMom21 haha so true

Thanks all!

Actually my husband just told me it’s supposed to be horrible and rainy Friday. Sorry. 3 or 4 days of sunshine was just too much to ask in early April. Wear the rain boots.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy ??

@YoungThriver no…i’m too nervous to.

Bring an extra pair of dry shoes to keep in the car…especially if you walk to see athletic fields or walk around campus. Last yearr we had to walk through fields where the parking areas wrere and it was rain/snowmix…a mom on CC had suggested bringing a dry pair of shoes, Paying it forward.Thanks!

@CavsFan2003 , looking forward to your report. “First plane ride” comment delighted me. Excited for you.

I’ll write my report later… just know Choate’s revisit was awesome.

@ffsophiar I think SwamiJr attended the same revisit days at Exeter as @YoungThriver and I will say that Exeter killed it. It was a distant #3 for SwamiJr but it vaulted to being a dead heat with PA after the revisit day. The organization, students, staff and for SwamiJr, the classes, were all very positive experiences. That said, the bar was low for us. Our initial visit and interview at Exeter did not leave us super impressed with the school.

@TheSwami Has your son made a choice yet?
