The Official PSAT For Saturday October 21, 2006

Does anybody remember the Writing question about New Jersey blueberries? I think I picked the most concise answer. Any thoughts on the answer?

Does anyone know what the gross clouds answer was?

Why did the author use gross clouds?

For humor?

I put to cite a historical figure to give credibility to their argument.

Also, wasn't the museum one something with blank/innovative??

thx

Gross was a form of humor; he was making a play on the word.

I don't think that was the answer to the Museum question.

Did people get "garnered" for some sentence completion? I remember that word from something...

I also put that gross was a play on the two meanings of the word.

il bandito--
I remember I found an error for that but I do not remember what it was.

Kian--
8/27..I don't remember the other question.

instead of compromised/garnered for the voters one, most people agreed it was disenfranchised/registered or something

what do u guys think the curve will be this year for each section?
someone was saying 2 wrong in math will be a 72...will it really be that harsh?

Adelaide--
Wouldn't compromised/garnered also work?

I originally thought the disenfranchised one was right but I thought register seemed weird in the sentence.

Register as a verb can mean to convey or make known.

mrniceguy:
il bandito is right...voters deprived of their rights (i don't quite remember the sentence?) would feel more disenfranchised than compromised, and they would register (or make known) their dissatisfaction

Yeah, it couldn't be compromised/garnered because garner means to amass or gather, and you don't "gather" your dissatisfaction.

ye, i almost put that answer ^

i was getting so frustrated over that question, but ended up with disenfranchised/registered.

ugh...there is another missed CR. I'll probably end up missing like 8 total....=/

Please check out the consolidation thread for the October 21 PSAT. I've already started a list of CR answers, almost every math question is there, and I plan on compiling writing answers in the near future. Even though some test-takers are still debating certain questions (e.g. wry vs. surly, humorous/earnest vs. conversational/scholarly, etc.), I'm confident that the consolidation thread will prove very helpful in predicting PSAT scores before that fateful day in December. Thanks!

hey what was the answer in the writing for this: he's known of both his songs and his arrangements of other peices. i think it was no error

I'm pretty sure it was humorous/earnest :( :( :( ...I asked two smart friends :( :( :(
