[] Essays: excellent, long one about writing and truth, didn't sound like the typical college essay; shorts about producing a play, Beat Generation, and reading trashy novels- sort of risky.
[] Teacher Recs: two main ones from my latin teacher (had him for 4 years) and english, who loved me. didn't read them, but probably both glowing, optional from yearbook adviser, and excellent
[] Counselor Rec: didnt read it either, but he likes me
[] Hook (if any): editor-in-chief of school paper and school yearbook (both are award-winning publications), won lots of writing contests, oberlin book prize, play that i co-wrote was produced twice by professional actors, journalistic and creative writing published in newspapers/magazines, also publish regular zine with a friend.

General Comments: i agree with whoever said getting in was about sticking out from everbody else, since lots of people have great board scores and gpas. you have to show them what you can offer them/how you can contribute to the school. congrats on all who got in! and dont worry to those who didn't- one of my friends got rejected outright and ended up getting into/going to harvard.
