@Koolmaria: Greetings greetings!

"I outwardly loathe America's obsession with celebrities, but I secretly keep tabs on the doings of Shia LaBeouf and Halle Berry."

Haha, don't we all (although I wouldn't go so far as to "keep tabs")? I seem to remember a rumor floating around last year that Shia LaBeouf was matriculating at Yale. It was dispelled by numerous sources but nevertheless caused female Yalies on CC to swoon with wi****l delight, and then despair when they found out he was staying on the west coast for college. Being a (straight) male, I of course stayed on the sidelines, bemused -- and slightly jealous of the attention from females that starring in Even Stevens can get you.

Optimization, your name reminds me of Optimus Prime (which, now that I think of it, is a pretty redundant name). Haha, yeah, Tschaikovsky is definitely not just great because he has a guttural, Russian name. For some reason, I am totally enamored with Romantic/Early contemporary pieces incorporating a bit of folk flair, and I think Tschaikovsky does that wonderfully in his music. Jumping to Western Europe, I really admire Saint-Saens, Poulenc, Debussy, etc. for pulling in elements of world music, particularly from the Orient (a result of French colonization in places like Indochina, right?). Perhaps I am not too sophisticated, but I think some of that exotic spice in post-Classical music is what makes it exciting to listen to. And throw in a bit of Stravinsky; he's exciting -- period.

By the way, how did you discover Tschaikovsky while reading a book about Hitler???

Treehugger. Literally.

Yeah, I'm not sure either what I want to do after college. Perhaps an applied science? The right brain says, "No, communications is much more fulfilling." Hm. Polar opposites, but maybe I'll be able to combine the two. Somehow. I'll have to consult Carl Sagan on that.

Fingers are crossed for CC dominance in Yale admissions. As we all know, CC >> general public.

What does everybody like to do in their spare time? Basketball is a plus. As is Guitar Hero (II). Reading is a definite. What about the summer? Does any one live anywhere culturally stimulating (as in, as far away from where I live as possible), somewhere where you have opportunities to watch a high-quality play or attend a big city orchestra concert?

Edit: For some reason, CC censors the word W I S T F U L.
