I would say that definitely qualifies as regional.

Anyone know the answer to the book award question?

Anyone know the answer to the book award question?

Where do I find the financial forms?

Are there only spaces for seven activities…or did we mess up and save too soon? Now if my son tries to add another activity, it says he has to do it in the supplement…

I’m thinking book award is a school award?

Wigwam: My writing score on the ACT wasn’t too great (I got an 8). Do you think that adcoms would overlook this if my personal essay was really good?

@mirsad05

I think you can go to the College Board website and they will tell you how each college uses the writing score. For example, I know it will say if the college only uses the writing score as a “validity check” against your Common App essay.

I’m pretty sure book award is regional. I don’t know if it varies from book award to book award, but I know the Princeton book award was awarded to six people in the “Baltimore area” (not just one from each school or something).

i stand corrected

how about boys state participation? is that like state level recognition?

or is it just listed as an extracurricular?

i am fairly sure that book awards are school level since they hand them out per school. Often though only a few schools will actually have book awards.

What’s the level of recognition for “AP Scholar w/ Distinction”?

I can’t leave it blank :(

Anyone ?

I was told the AP awards, however insignificant they may be, are national honors.

This is a dumb question… Is National Merit semi-finalist national?

Haha okay…ya I only have two other awards, so I thought I’d put the AP thing on there too, especially because I got it Sophomore Year (took an AP Freshman Year and two Sophomore Year)

^ If I know that I’m going to get an AP award but haven’t received it yet, should I include it as an award/honor?

@mirsad05

Yes. I did that.

Would Governor’s School count as an honor or should it go under additional info?

I have a question about extracurricular activities (yes, I started my application extra-early); I am a member of my school newspaper, and I’ve held different positions different years (i.e. reporter, editor); do I add a different extracurricular for each position or just explain them within one blurb?

I held different editorial positions in different years; I plan on putting all under one heading.
