The Pre-DPT Program and University Scholars scholarship

My daughter is a HS junior who is on track to graduate with a 3.95 unweighted GPA and while I’m ahead of myself based on practice is scoring around 33-35 ACT for December’s test. She is also fairly certain of a career goal of a DPT and will likely attend her home state school the University of Maryland as it has a good kinesiology program, may get a full ride scholarship but either way in-state tuition is low as we would need to save for grad school. But we are also looking at other programs including BU’s 6-year combined BS-DPT. How does Northeastern’s Entry Level DPT program compare to BU? Also, while any full ride is a long shot, does Northeastern still have a full ride scholarship? Thank you in advance.

the university scholars program with full scholarship is gone, full scholarship for NMS is gone, the only full scholarship program left is Torch Scholars - these programs were never full ride - only full tuition - you still paid room and board

Description for torch scholar - The program’s nomination and holistic review process identifies bright students from across the country
who have already succeeded against the odds, but who have not yet reached their full academic potential. Torch is dedicated to supporting these talented, first-generation college students through an extensive full-scholarship program

Hi there! Current PT first year student. I absolutely love our program, and the biggest difference between us and BU is that we have 2 co-ops integrated into the program and this one extra year out in the field before we even graduate. I’d be happy to answer any questions you and your daughter may have!

My daughter applied to the early entry 6-year DPT program. I heard it’s very competitive. If she doesn’t get into the program can she still enroll in undergraduate taking parallel courses towards DPT and apply again? Can she potentially finish in 6 years too?

@34263426 I would agree that it is competitive to get into (there’s only about 35 first year PT majors including NU.in students this year). Northeastern won’t say sadly “you got into the school but not the major” to my knowledge, it’s only “you’ve been accepted as a physical therapy major.” All PT majors finish in 6 years; the curriculum is up online if you want to see how it’s broken up. Best of luck to your daughter! Feel free to PM if you have any specific questions you want a PT major to answer.

Thank you! Keeping our fingers crossed!
