A friend’s D got a degree in “Ballet” at an expensive private U–she was not allowed to switch her major or she would lose her generous merit & FAid awards. Her schedule was so full with all the mandatory performances, she couldn’t take coursework to also get certified as a teacher of any sort, to be able to use her Ballet degree. She also suffered a career-ending injury in college. She has come back to live with her folks and is teaching dance at a preschool, while working to get credentials and education so she can be a teacher.
Lots of kids at USC & other schools get degrees in Cinema and other fields and have trouble finding jobs. Even engineers can have a lot of trouble finding jobs, as I heard when I attended S’s USoCal engineering graduation in 2010.
