The Procrastinator's Guide to the Tufts App

For those of you in the final throes of application submission (how many of you can there be?), I've put up a guide to the Tufts app on the admissions blog. Some of what's there is highly practical, other pieces serve to help you find the right frame of mind for our application.

Inside Admissions: The Procrastinator's Guide to the Tufts Application

There's a comment section at the bottom if there's something you'd like to see added. Yesterday, someone asked for some examples of what a good Why Tufts looks like, and today I added a section for just that.

And I was the person who asked  Thanks for posting the Why Tufts. But you know the interesting thing? You were right when you said that the essays should come from YOUR perspective. The sample essays ultimately did not “help” because I have my OWN reasons for loving Tufts…and that hopefully came through in mine! I simply poured my heart in the stuff! :)

Thanks again! I submitted my app yesterday night. Just the wait now!

I think the real value of those sample essays isn’t so much a “you should do this” lesson - though I think that’s why a lot of people want to see them - but in showing you (an applicant, not anyone specific) that we don’t really have a mold or specific idea of what your essay should be.

Glad you saw that yourself!

Thanks for this! It really helped me when I was cramming yesterday >:) I think my Why Tufts came out really well. Looking at those gave me a bit more confidence to say what I actually thought, rather than a more standard ‘suitable’ answer. It gets hard to not constantly consider what you think admissions officers want to hear, but I think I pulled it off!

YAY! I’m so glad!
