The Quarter System

Maybe my seven or eight Dartmouth alum friends who have already quit can convince her lol! Has she considered consulting? Its a better lifestyle and opens many more doors in my opinion. I know many ex-consultants who are in all areas post-mba. Meanwhile the bankers are sort of stuck in the financial sector, a very lucrative, although soul-less area of work in my opinion.

Yes, she has considered consulting. She said when you go to career services, that most of the internships are in consulting/ibanking. Gotta wait until late spring/ summer to see how this plays out

Its true. I ran into the same problem even during my MBA, most "industry" companies expect you to come to them.

But there are plenty of internships out there in other areas too, well beyond what career services sends you to. Contacting alums has worked for many of my friends. It takes some initiative but can be worth it if that is where your interest lies. Also, many companies have very established intern programs (Turner broadcasting, Comedy Central, NBA, Advertising, etc) that are worth pursuing. Takes a little initiative, but well worth it in my opinion.

thanks, I will pass that on
