The Right School for Me?

im a 17 year old from wildwood new jersey. i went to a private catholic high school with 35 kids in my class. i was easily in the top third of my class. im going to be a senior in high school next year, and i have absolutely no idea where i want to go. i take all honors classes and get A's and B's. i will be taking an AP course next year. ive been on student council every year throughout high school and im on the national honors society. i play golf too. Being from New Jersey, there isnt a lot of choices for college around. I was just wondering what colleges i should consider. Im going to apply to Rutgers main campus and maybe Penn State, but i dont know what other schools to look at, or my chances at getting into these schools. Oh, and by the way, i want to go to a pretty big college where theres a good social life.

What are your scores? What can your family afford for college each year?

What Erin’s Dad stated and also what do you want to do in life or in other words what occupation you would like to do?

I have a 3.6 GPA out of 4.5 since its honors. i only got a 1590 on SATs. 520 on writing, 530 on critical reading, and 540 on math. average student. i know. also my parents wanna look at cheap as possible colleges since im from a middle class family.

Penn State will cost you $50K/year. Ask your GC what in-state colleges past grads have attended.

Rutgers is probably a very good choice for you in terms of providing a large college experience at a reasonable price. Other ideas are: Pitt, Syracuse, UVT, UMass-Amherst.

Also make sure to check out the SUNYs, especially Stony Brook for sciency subjects.
