The Risk of Being Plagiarised

So...A different kind of "What Are my Chances?" thread. Let's assume that I send an essay via CC to someone; that they apply to the same college as I do; and that they use my essay either entirely or partially.

What are the chances of admissions officers noticing, and, if so, what would be the consequences?

Generally, I force the other CCer to trade essays -- I read theirs and they read mine. That way, it discourages plagiarism because the other person already has written an essay and has less of an incentive to copy from your work. I usually also ask the other CCer to not write: "Oh It's pretty good." Because pretty good doesn't mean much. I usually want the other CCer to make a 2 to 3 paragraph summary of what they think about my essay, because that's exactly what I do for them.

Admission officers aren't stupid people. They can tell if you plagiarized a work easily, so avoid that. Usually, they'll reject you if they find that you copied a piece of work.

Lesson of the day: Don't copy and be yourself!

Perhaps I should have clarified that I'm not the one who would plagiarize; I'm the one who would be plagiarized. I find that sort of cheating despicable, and, even if I thought it was morally valid, I think copying a personal essay is pointless.

Bump.........

Please...does anyone know if the admissions office has safeguards against the punishment of innocent applicants? This would save me some sleep at night!

OMG....i never even considered anyone 'stealing' another person's essays. Would there be a way for colleges to tell who's innocent..somehow I get the feeling that there wouldn't be. I've got to be more careful with who I send my essays to now.
