Well here me and my S are thousands of miles on through the air in car and on foot and thousands dollars out of the pocket book later. Waiting. But lets review:

UVA - not know for a great program but great school wanting becomes involved and likes my S and starts conversation that is on going.
Christopher Newport - very good conversations possible scholarship
FSU - good audition, good feedback no call back
VT - offers acedemic scholarship
JMU - upcoming program, really nice people, excellent faculity, terrific palace/performing arts building - very good interview and audition - S loves the people he meet there
Haven't visited my parents since the economy did a nose dive, free housing at my sisters plus I can get his grandparents off my back. Auditions on the left coast!
Cal Arts - S felt it was an excellent audtion and interview had him do extra exercises we'll see (hmm cost superman money)
Juilliard in SF - Gave it his all, didn't call back anyone from his group (all High School applicants) found out they only called back two all the people that showed. Hmm driving up from LA to SF plus Hotel for three days in the city put a hole in the pocket book
USC - drove back to LA, SC one of the top choices going in, mix up in time throws my son off BAM behind the eight ball. Okay audition, great interview. Again we'll see but...
NCUSA - Robert and Robert are fantastic - excellent interview and audition - I want to go their
Suny Purchase - S #1 choose when we visited last year - take out the video camera and give him the business. Yes!
U. Minn - Already been offered two acedemic scholarship. Good audition, okay interview S doesn't feel as if their was a connection
NYU - it seemingly went very well and I'm tired.

How about everyone else out there in Cyber Land

I’m exhausted for you just reading about your travels and your S’s auditions, wineguy! Your S sounds like an amazing guy. It’s not just the actual audition and interview that are stressful, it’s finding the audition, sitting in a room full of other hopefuls, and doing this over and over again.

Best of luck and let us know how it all turns out.

Thank U - it has been…interesting. I would say to everyone, plan, plan, plan - than get some help as you save some money. Truthfully one of the best pieces of advice I was given is see where your son or daughter get’s in first then visit because truthfully it doesn’t do much good to fall in love with one or two schools but rather discover several programs that your young person would enjoy and grow in. Hmm I would also say that if your young persons list consist entirely of Carneige Mellon, Juilliard, Suny Purchase and SC have a sit down with them -

Wineguy, I hope you have some non-audition schools on the list! That would be the line to add to your advice at the end… Good luck to your S!

Oh wait, I see he has UVa. Well, I wouldn’t call that a safety non-audition… but it seems like you feel confident that he will be admitted, so hoping you’re right and you’ve got that aspect covered.

wineguy, wow! fun to read! Sounds like a lot of balls in the air at once and many good auditions. Please don’t feel bad about Juilliard: it’s a long shot for anyone, especially high school students. Re: Minnesota – did he get an invitation for the callback weekend?

Nope, he knew right away there hadn’t been a connection established - Of course, him saying that he really looked forward to working with Ken washington when he is interviewing you might have helped. But it is what it is - I am very proud that he took his shot, and seemingly things look like they will work out well
