The schools you would NEVER go to...

<p>got in as a transfer last May</p>

<p>i would say NYU for some weird reason.</p>

<p>~ New York University/Columbia University... I'm not an NYC fan.
~ Syracuse University/University of Rochester/Skidmore College/Union College/Colgate University... WAY too much snow.
~ Bates College/Colby College/Bowdoin College... Maine is much too cold.
~ the UCs... I'm plain sick of hearing about them all the time.
~ University of Notre Dame/Georgetown University/Villanova University/Boston College/College of the Holy Cross/Catholic University of America... going to a place with any sort of religious connection makes me a bit uncomfortable.
~ Williams College/Dartmouth College/Cornell University... "middle of nowhere" as a locale has little appeal.
~ Carnegie Mellon University... I have less than no interest in Pittsburgh.
~ University of Miami... too much of a party reputation.
~ Mt. Holyoke College/Smith College/Barnard College/Wellesley College/Bryn Mawr College... not enough testoterone.
~ California Institute of Technology... an amazingly unique place, but most certainly not for me.
~ Rice University/Texas A&M/UT-Austin... I'm REALLY not into Texas.
~ Washington University - St. Louis... Nor am I a fan of Missouri.
~ Vanderbilt University.... Ditto for Tennessee.
~ Ohio State University... Too big.
~ Clark University... The surroundings aren't too pretty.
~ Wesleyan University/Connecticut College/University of Connecticut/Trinity College... If it's not Yale, I don't want to be in Connecticut for college.</p>

<p>Yes, because Vassar is the quintessential, most desirable school, m i rite?</p>

<p>No, actually B05TON. Vassar has it's share of faults and I could most certainly come up with a list of "schools I'd rather go to than Vassar," if asked.</p>

<p>for undergrad:</p>

<p>-NYU, BU, any other enormous overpriced private school with no real campus
-Cal Tech, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Harvey Mudd, schools in that genre
-any fundamentalist religious school
-Holy Cross, Notre Dame- I dont have a problem with Jesuit or Catholic schools (that are mainstreamed) but as a non-christian/catholic I don't want it in the actual name of the school</p>

<p>"Notre Dame, Florida State, Boston College, Ohio State, LSU, Northeastern, Drexel, UMass Lowell, University of New Hampshire, Hofstra, Tulane, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Brown, MIT, CalTech, Dartmouth, Detroit Mercy, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida International."</p>

<p>Would you mind explaining your logic for some of these?</p>

<p>Specify if you wish.</p>

<p>BYU, BJU, Princeton, Duke, Boston College, Boston University, UC Irvine, Notre Dame, Auburn.</p>

<p>Muskingum College
Ohio State
Purdue</p>

<p>All Community Colleges
All Two Year Schools (Devry, ITT tech, etc.)
Public State Schools</p>

<p>^^^^ "Public State Schools"</p>

<p>Gotta love the elitism on CC...</p>

<p>I don't like to say never, but if given a choice other than these, I'd probably go with the other choice:
M.I.T., tech schools in general, super-religious schools, anything in CA, Princeton, anything in the deep south, anything where the social life is rather exclusively frat-oriented, anything with >10,000 undergrads.</p>

<p>littleatheist, could you actually list those schools? I would be interested in seeing it.</p>

<p>why does everyone hate nyu so much? i want to apply there</p>

<p>personally i just don't like the whole feel of nyu that much. I like traditional campuses much more. I'm not much of a huge city lover...i guess you could say.</p>

<p>Why Purdue??</p>

<p>UIUC. State school where something like 20% of my school ends up. Plus, there's practically a cornfield in the middle of the quad.</p>

<p>Local community college. Its pretty much down the street. The point of college is to get the **** away from my parents (oh, and that learning thing)</p>

<p>Sarah Lawrence. Not that its not a great school, its just that its literally in my aunt's back yard. She can see the school from her dining room.</p>

<p>Harvard. Can you be a little more elitist, rich, or white please? I'm not feeling excluded enough.</p>

<p>Caltech
NYU
USC
Wake Forest</p>

<p>I would never go to Purdue, because I am Russian. In Russian, the word "Purdue" means "fart". </p>

<p>While it is true, I am sure that Purdue is still a nice college to go to.</p>
