The schools you would NEVER go to...

lololololol

local community college- it's directly accross from my hs...and online schools...

LMAO to catsushi! I actually started laughing. XD

It starts with a H, ends with a D, and has an ARVAR in between ;)

Hmm...let's see - no tech schools, no religious schools, no schools with big Greek scenes, no southern schools, no schools in California, and no schools anywhere larger than 10K. Anything else while you're at it? I've known strict vegans who were not as fussy as you. You should go at it from other way around - list the schools that you would consider attending. It's probably a much shorter list

In response to two of the above posters, the schools that I'd pick over Vassar, if given the option this moment are Swarthmore College, Amherst College, and University of Pennsylvania.

Now, this isn't because I think that those three institutions are the only schools superior to my school, but rather because they're the only three that I would prefer to attend based on such highly personal factors as the school's location, student body type, academic scene, athletic scene, social scene, level of intellectualism, and so on. That was the point of this thread after all: to explain one's reasons for why one would never choose to attend a certain institution, regardless of what the reason was.

UChicago. grade deflation, anyone?
MIT, Caltech, or any "tech" for that matter.

CSU-East Bay - look up commuter school in the dictionary and there's a picture of this place.

harvard (not that I'd get in, in the first place), nyu, Cornell, jhu - frigid campus culture.

In response to coureur:
I don't see how it's any of your business, but I know exactly what types of schools I want. I want to stay within 5 hours of home (aka New England) and I want a small LAC. There are dozens of schools that fit those characteristics, so I'm sure I'll have no problem compiling a good list.

The name of this thread, however, is "The schools you would NEVER go to", and I was replying to the thread.

Grove City College, Calvin College. Because of the location and the strong religious aspect.

~ Williams College/Dartmouth College/Cornell University... "middle of nowhere" as a locale has little appeal.

I have to laugh. I think Hanover is much more charming than Poughkeepsie could ever be. It is, IMO, no more "in the middle of nowhere" than Poughkeepsie. Dutchess county is pretty, but Poughkeepsie isn't very appealing.

I could never go to the University of Kansas because I am a Missouri fan :)

Yeah, how is Poughkeepsie not considered "in the middle of nowhere"????

I wouldn't go to Harvard... even if Yale doesn't take me I'm still loyal :-)

Can it be a school that we already attend and never want to return if we do get accepted to another school as a transfer?

My schools:

WIU - I mean, why? Just why?

Not too picky on where I attend. Just gotta have a solid program that I'm in and the campus better feel like home, literally.

oops forgot chicago too. just not for me.

BJU
Berkley
MIT, Caltech and other tech schools
Most schools in the south

Disclaimer: my opinions are not based on whether these schools are objectively "good" or "bad," just that I could personally never see myself happy there.

Any Christian school.

Caltech, MIT.

Bryn Mawr, UPenn, Tufts, NMSU, UNM, College of Santa Fe, St. John's, Shimer College.

Anywhere where Business is the most popular major.

UCBerkeley, NYU.

The botomless pit where everyone I know says "What the heck, I'll go here" when they didn't make Ivy League that is Rutgers.

Harvard
Any really religious school (BYU, Calvin, Aquinas, etc)
Military/quasi-military (the Citadel) schools
Columbia or NYU...my parents are both bona fide New Yorkers...but I generally hate New Yorkers
West Virginia
UNLV: Las Vegas is a favorite vacation spot and like a second home to me...but I'd feel dirty living there
Any school that does not offer a liberal arts-type education (so nothing too hands-on or technical...I'm a sucker for theory)
