The Story of the Unhappy 8th Grader

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?????

my mom's gonna make me study thru the summer and take another SAT in oct.

AFTER A 2010 I THOUGHT SHE MAY BE SATISFIED.

That's stupid.

You'll be in highschool then, so you might as well wait until sophomore/junior year.

Don't do it.

you are a mama's boy!

^EXACTLY!!!!!!

but it's not the choice of 'my' doing it. i HATE studying for the SAT. and now im gonna do it all over again tho i have enuf 2 impress most high schools.

Convince her that its not SMART to do it again, at least not in October.

Tell her that colleges look down upon kids who take the SAT too much in highschool, so you should probably take it in sophomore year when you know more math and have experienced more vocab.

you are a mama's boy!

girl, thank you, and proudly so. :p

*** if i got that score my parents will convince me to not take it again!!!!

i don't see the harm in taking the SAT again. colleges concentrate on the highest scores any way. right?

i took it 6 times already. (i must have posted that like 50 times already)

:):):):):)

I'm pretty sure colleges look down on taking it more than 3 times, especially if there's not significant improvement (100+) each time

what HS are you going to....perhaps the counselor can talk to your mom and say that taking the sat too much is not a good thing, and you have the PSAT anyway

From all I have read and seen, tkaing it more than three times looks bad and studies show that after three time, getting a much higher score is rare

What does she want you to get? Egad, prepkid, I have seen your other posts, and sorry your home life is so complicated

Tell her that reading books is a much better way to increase scores, there are actually some fun books that focus on SAT vocab but are novels, etc

Your mom kinda sounds pushy and overbearing. If you really don't want to take the test, don't. You'll be saving her money and you'll have time to do more meaningful things that will actually be important later on.

***. do you still sleep with her or something? sickeningn kid. I heard you've taken it 10 times or something too.

^ lol... :)

Yea, I have the same problem. I got a 2380 in April and my parents want me to take it again!!!!!!!

Just read a few books, pay attention in math class, and take them again your junior year. You'll be fine.

Oh and also...

-Pick up a basketball and play
-Go to a movie with friends
-Make some friends first
-Go to the mall, after the movies, with your brand new friends
-Forget the SATs for another three years

Have a little fun in life. Don't let your life be consumed with tests, school, and learning. Don't get me wrong...the previous things hold a certain degree of importance. People believe that if you study non-stop, they will grow up to be millionaires likes their mommies and daddies told them. Social skills are also very important. Trust me...you can't improve your social skills talking to a book or your pet iguana. Go out and have a little fun!!!

JH2007: Who says you can't have fun and study for the SAT's? I met a ton of people through a test prep course. It also gets you through those boring summer days

PREPKID: I applaud your actions! I wish I started as early as you. It's a fantastic idea to start early and be done with Standardized testing by Freshman/Sophomore year. Then you won't have to worry about it during Junior and Senior year when you would also have to deal with AP exams and Applications.

PS: Great score. Your mom should be quite proud

Haha, 2000+ in 8th grade? You're on your way to 2300+ and quite possibly 2400, tell your mama not to make you take it again!!! You do better than so many high school seniors it ain't even funny.
