The Tennis Thread

Many players have rituals and I certainly have mine on the serve. It would just help if Rafa changed that ritual to something else.

Alexandre, if you had watched the French Open Final, you would have seen Nadal and David Ferrer. Nadal´s behavior was great. It always is.

In the SEMI, it was The Chair Ump who refused to have the court watered.

Bizarre day.

Yes indeed. No one wants to play on grass today? Cilic, Isner, Azarenka, Stepanek…Or they probably had gold holdings and felt too deflated to play.

Maria is beaten. Vika withdrawn. Wild open for all the other ladies in those quarters.

I don’t remember a day like this in all the years I’ve watched tennis.

This even tops the weird Wednesday in 2002. Pete, Andre & Marat all lost (I was there and remember it well.)

And now the day has gotten even weirder!

Emilybee, you may have caught a pattern there: a Wimbledon Wacky Wednesday every 11 years.
So, as it turns out, aside from gold and apple going down today, the following are out this wacky Wednesday: Federer (sniff), Tsonga, Sharapova, Azarenka, Cilic, Isner, Wozniacki, Ivanovic, Stepanek, Darcis, Shvedova, Hewitt.

My friends were there Monday and yesterday. I blame them leaving for upsetting the equilibrium. And one of them was Roger’s muse until she switched to Ferrer, so she is definitely to blame for that loss. ;)

Can’t really blame her for switching. Ferrer is in Game of Thrones.

JK. He looks like the actor who plays Jaimie Lannister though.

Looked like a skating rink out there on the grass.

“Can’t really blame her for switching. Ferrer is in Game of Thrones.”

She switched well before GoT. You can time it from when Roger began his decline. ;)

Ok, I think I understand you. The same thing happened to Andre during Brooke Shields phase right?

So depressed. After Nadal went out had great hopes for Isner to have a good tournament even though definitely pulling for Federer…so much for that. Prefer Azarenka and Sharapova to Serena…so much for that. Maybe some young players will have a good run… I love watching players work the slide on clay and grass but grass seems to be taking it’s toll this year.

Krillies, something like that. ;)

Back to a more normal day.

Very ho hum.

Some interesting matches today.

Yay for Tommy!

Still very upset at this year’s Wimbledon. Murray’s title will have a huge asterisk next to it for me, just like his US Open.
