Del Potro lost to Hewitt, a little surprise.

So happy for Alison Riske, she is from my area of the country. Wish CBS had chosen to show more than 3 points of her match though!

I wish CBS was even ON here in So Cal. The Time Warner Cable dispute has had CBS off the air for weeks now. So Iāll miss the semi-finals and the finals unless I can find a streaming online way to watch.

ecouter, Sharapova won all four Grand Slams, beating Serana Williams in the finals of Wimbledon in 2004, Justine Henin in the finals of the US Open in 2006, Ana Ivanovic in the finals of the Australian in 2008 (she beat Henin in the Quarterfinals) and Sara Errani in the finals of the French Open in 2012. And none of those were flukes. She has made it to the finals of the Australian two other times, and to the finals of Wimbledon and the French Open one more time each. Only 4 or 5 other women have completed the career Grand Slam in the open era. I agree that her style of play is not well suited to counter Serenaās aggressive game, but I would not be so quick to dismiss her. She is one of the top 10 players in modern times, certainly on par with the likes of Martina Hingis and Kim Clijsters

I am happy to see posters here like Monfils. He is fun to watch. He really plays for the fun of the game. As a junior player, he seemed to be destined to be one of the greats. Unfortunately, injury and lack of focus have robbed us of that pleasure. Still, I expected Americans to root for Isner.

Go 'Nole! ;)

TatinG,
Do you live in an area thatās no more than 50 or so miles from your local CBS station? Do you have a reasonably new television? If so, you ought to be able to buy a relatively inexpensive antennae from someplace like Walmart or Best Buy and switch your input off of cable to tv and watch the semis and finals. I have an $14 RCA antennae on the back of my 42" Insignia television in the family room because I have DirectTV that cuts out at just as the wind and/or rain picks up and the local weather news becomes pertinent. I can bring in all of the network channels with the exception of CBS, but that station is more than an hour from my home. I still curse Direct TV, but not as much:)

I have a ābasicā DirecTV package and am getting a nice assortment of matches to watch. Sorry to see Jack Sock get eliminated butā¦ Jack WILL be back!

jshain, I have basic Direct TV and also get the same assortment for the Grand Slam tournaments. Unfortunately, that feature disappears after the second week Monday R16 matches are concluded for each of the slams.

On another note, I think Coca Cola needs to bring back the Diet Coke break ads and contract with Rafa.

Isner lost? Wow there goes all the electricity out of the tournament. Will have to find another statue to root for.

Watching some of the old tiebreaks during the rain delay is making me feel nostalgic for the wooden racquet era.

Wow, I feel bad for Federer. Not making it to the finals of any of the Grand Slams this year. Heās such a class act.

Iām depressed about that Federer match.

I am sad for Federer too. But he probably has passed his prime. He is a still good player but unlikely to stay on top.

He should have retired when he was on top, after last yearās Olympics, or US Open. He is obviously still an excellent player, but this is not a fitting end to what is arguably the best tennis player of all time.

Glad I didnāt risk getting trampled to get into Louie for that match. Sad for Roger but very happy for TommyR.

Watched Milos and Richard instead which was quite the marathon.

All and all a great weekend but I am going to be very sad when they knock down the grandstand. Except for yesterday we were there practically the whole time.

As for American players, I havenāt liked any since Aaron Krickstein.

I donāt think Iāve seen Roger make so many unforced errors. And ususally when Roger has a chance to break, he takes it. He was totally ineffective in this match.

Itās sad to watch him fall off so precipitously.

Watching so many Sampras tiebreaks yesterday made me think how smart Pete was to walk away at the top of his game. He is still my all time favorite. I hated to see Federer lose and thought he was really classy in his news conference. I think he really believes he can still be a factor and I would like to see him make one more big run before he calls it a day.

No love for Rafa? Good match I thought.

Brad Gilbert is embarrassing, he seemed to think Rafa would jump up and down on camera when told that Roger lost.

The announcers(not just the men) kept saying how Fed is so old now, that last year he began the downslide. Robredo is only 1 year younger.

Gotta love that Ferrer!

I think she was good once- definitely in the 2000s but she hasnāt been playing well lately.

She lost FO 6-2, 6-4 against Williams, Wimby against Larcher de Brito, and Cincy against Stephens (lol). She lost to Williams 4 times this year? Like I think sheās definitely doing ** well * but right now, her form isnāt that good.

Maybe I was a bit harsh.

Nole destroyed Granollers. Almost sad. I hope heās well prepped for Youzhny and of course Murray.
