The Tennis Thread

Looking forward to it!

Very bizarre day today. I don’t believe in all the years I have been watching tennis there has ever been walkovers in both semi’s.

Crazy!

Spent all afternoon with hubby filling out Fasfa & CSS (for last time hurrah!) so will watch the ladies later. Hoping it was competitive, at least. Tomorrows mens final should be interesting. Vamos Rafa!

Hopp Roger!

And congrats to Pics for beating Rafa yesterday.

Twin boys for Roger and Mirka Federer. Leo and Lenny. They can play mixed doubles with their twin sisters.

Mirka and Roger are certainly efficient!

So exciting! I knew she was pregnant again, but had no idea it was twins again.

There was a rumor a few months back that she was having twins again - but everyone just dismissed it as nothing more then that.

Bumping for RG.

Draw is out.

<a href=“Roland-Garros - The 2023 Roland-Garros Tournament official site”>Roland-Garros - The 2023 Roland-Garros Tournament official site;

Surprised to see Wawrinka lose in the first round. Although I don’t think clay is his best surface.

Stan hasn’t had the best clay court season and I think there is often a let down after winning 1st slam.
Plus, GGL is no slouch on clay.

Best R1 match by far was Benny/Bagnis. 18-16 in the 5th! Very nice win for his GS debut. Hope he can recover for the next round.

Benny/Bagnis was unbelievable! S and I watched together and were amazed at their stamina and perseverance.

Barring injury or a major brain fart, the French Open will go to either Nadal or Djokovic.

I was listening to McEnroe talk about the Benny/Bagnis match and he is very against not having tie-breakers in the 5th set. He thinks it is to hard on the players bodies, especially when they have to come right back and play another match. Although I do find them exciting, I do see his point.

I agree with McEnroe. The only exception would be in the finals, where a 5th set tie breaker would make less sense than the usual 2 game lead rule currently enforced.

I thought Rory & Wozniacki looked cute together.

JMac has been going on about the no TB in 5th sets for years now. I wish he would shut up about it already as the other 3 majors are not going to change. Every tournament it’s the same thing with him. Enough already. I, for one, love the no tie breaks in the 5th. Some of the most memorable matches I’ve seen live are the marathon 5th setters. So much more exciting than when it ends in a TB.

Scratching Rory off my list. She deserves better. Very reminiscent of when Lleyton dumped Kim.

Shocked to wake up and see the Williams sisters are both out in the second round. I watched the Federer match before work. His box was ridiculously cute with his dad, Mirka (who looks fabulous) and his girls.

Listening to the comms carry on in total disbelief during Serena’s match made my day. It was such a hoot, I actually watched the Tennis Channel repeat of the match.
