What a ho hum match.

Today’s?? As a Nadal fan, I’m always a bit nervous!! Ho hum ending for the match point though.

Enjoyed watching Nadal scale the stands immediately after the win.

Kudos to the fans who eventually gave Jok-o a heartfelt send off at the award presentation (when it see,Ed clear that the crowd favorite was Nadal)

Yes, today’s match. The match was meh.

The French have never embraced Rafa.

Yay Rafa!!

I’m happy with the outcome but a DF by Novak to finish was anticlimactic obviously. Neither player was near top form, it was mildly entertaining (I guess?) that NBC replayed Nolo’s puke moment in slo-mo.

Ouch! I imagine it will take Djokovic a while to get over double faulting match point. Can’t wait til Wimbledon!

Nadal has such a mental edge over any player on clay that it is very difficult to beat him in a best of 5 scenario. The lack of competition on the men’s side on this surface is hurting the clay game. It is essentially Nadal and nobody else. His only loss in 2009 comes with a great big *. He was injured. Had he been healthy, he would have been a perfect 10-0. Along with Borg, I do not recall seeing any person dominate a single major the way Nadal has done at Roland Garros.

“Can’t wait til Wimbledon!”

Me, too!

Halle and Queens start today!

The commentators say “it’s a golden age of tennis” but I, for one, am getting tired of seeing Rafa-Nole final matches. It’s time for some new player to break out.

I like Federer but this is why Nadal is the goat: ;))

I’m not tired of Rafa. I am tired of over-the-top screaming or weird bird-calls during a match though so I was rooting for Muguruza, Bouchard then Halep.

Krlilies, there is no denying that Nadal is the greatest clay court player of time. It is doubtful anybody will ever come close to him. Even Borg is a distant second at this time. It is much harder to gauge who the GOAT is. Federer, Nadal and Sampras all deserve serious consideration. Of course, of those three, the only one that can seriously change things is Nadal, who in the next 2-3 years could possibly (although highly unlikely) win another 4 majors and redefine the meaning of the word GOAT.

And why all the hate for Sharapova? Nadal is a notorious grunter too. Among male players, arguably the worst. Admittedly, Sharapova is a worse offender, but she is hardly on her own. Many female champions and several male players also grunt.

I watched the final on Sunday while doing other things. I think I heard the commentators mention that there would be more time between the French Open and Wimbledon starting next year. Does that mean the French Open will be earlier or that Wimbledon will be moved back?

Draw is out!

http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/scores/draws/ms/r1s1.html</a></p>

Wow…Nadal’s potential second round opponent is Rosol who beat him last year…and Nishikori and Raonic are both in his quarter as well. He can’t be too happy.

He has the toughest draw for sure. And Dr. Ivo as potential 3rd round, if irc.

I have no idea who is going to be the winner this year. Rafa hasn’t done squat on grass in the last few year. I think his knees are so bad he can’t bend them enough. Not a problem on clay as ball bounces much higher but on grass you have to be able to bend down low. Grass is Nole worst surface and he hasn’t won a major since OZ 2013 and he has carked it in every semi or final since. Murray has been a mess since coming back from surgery and lost early to Radak at Queens. And Roger is old - still great - but it’s just harder when you are in your 30’s to win a major.

Stan hasnt played well in months and the young guns, they seem to choke when up against any of the 4 as do the middle agers such as Jo Willy, Gasquet, etal.

Should be a great fortnight with there being no clear fav for the title!

Emily, I don’t think Nole has a “worst surface”. He is one of the top players in each surface. Naturally, the hard court is his prefered surface, having made it to 7 of the last 8 hard court majors he has played in, and won 4 of those. But clay and grass surfaces do not seem to bother him much. At Wimbledon, Nole has made it to the semis in 2010, won in 2011, made it to the semis in 2012 and make it to the finals in 2013. Assuming his wrist holds up, I think Nole has a reasonable shot at winning his second Wimbledon.

That’s fine. I just disagree.

Fognini acting up for the umpteenth time. Almost got dq’ued. Already has a few code violations and a point penalty. Not particularity a fan of his but matches are certainly entertaining.

Otherwise a ho-hum start to the fortnight.

Another ho-hum day. Thank goodness for World Cup.

Finally picking up some steam yesterday and today.

9 match points blown! Well done to the young Aussie. Kids got game.
