I am currently a freshman at a community college, and am currently taking my first class in the summer, and while motivated, I wonder about two things constantly: what does the social life at a CC hold for me, and how is the transition into a UC?
I'm in my first class ever at my CC, and it's the summer session so I only got one class, and hope to succeed, but the real question is, how is the social life in the normal term? I mean there are kids in my class from other colleges and some high schools so I wasn't sure how most college days will go in the Fall and Spring term. I'm worried I won't have that many friends and my parents seem to really want me to interact with others and are borderline ****ed off I haven't made a huge attempt to open up.
And I guess, if I do get into my dream school (Cal Berkley), I really wanted to know how transfer kids blend in there? As far as getting a roommate and finding friends, I assume most people are rooted with their freshman friends, and I have no clue as to how to find a roommate!
I feel very scared that even though I am very motivated in my academics, I won't have many people to talk to or get to know.

To make friends at your community college you should join clubs, and, in particular, your schools transfer club.

About UC Berkeley and finding friends…if you live on campus one residence hall is reserved completely for transfer students, so you will have lots of opportunities to get to know other transfer students. And, like at community college, join clubs that you are interested in.

If you just go to class and study and then go home, you won’t make a lot of friends in CC. CC’s are very diverse and are usually filled with students who just want to go to class, go home, and then go on to University. Join Student Government, any clubs that interest you, and Phi Theta Kappa, not only will you meet new people, you may get to go on trips, get involved with the community; and all that helps your transcript; especially if you wanna go to Berkeley.
