The trouble with public colleges

<p>That makes sense–they are pretty similar states in many ways. The current head of Yahoo and a UW alum says she paid her way through UW as a cocktail waitress at one of the swankier joints in Madison back in the day. She says she learned about dealing with people–especially businessmen in that job.</p>

<p>I’m a massive fan of the State U undergrad degree. I think it is an exceptional value and that the professors are as accesible as the students want to make them, for the most part. But, if a 6 year graduation rate is the “industry standard” which I did not know? Then, if a school costs 50K a year? State Universities looking better all the time!</p>

<p>State U is a great deal for the students that take advantage of what it has to offer. Most students don’t use it efficiently.</p>
