Someone told me that sororities cut you during rush if you hada high school GPA of like below 2.0...not that I do, but I was just wondering if that is true. I mean, it was high school, get over it, whay should it have anything to do with college now?

Also, what are the best sororities at your school and why?

Every NPC sorority/women's fraternity has a minimum GPA for membership. If you look at your college's Panhellenic website regarding recruitment, you should be able find the numbers.

The reason they are asking for hs gpa is that some schools have recruitment before freshman classes start. Other schools have deferred recruitment at the beginning of 2nd semester so they can see your college GPA. Many times the required hs GPA would be a bit higher than the minimum college GPA.

In terms of rushing, Panhel has the PNMs visiting every house in the beginning of recruitment. As recruitment proceeds, both the chapters and the PNMs are making selections. Keep an open mind and if you don't get invited to a max # of parties, accept the invites of the ones you do get. You may find your best fit is not at the "best" house.

Particularly at schools with large numbers of girls going through recruitment, GPA can be a key factor in determining which girls get invites to early rounds of the recruitment process.

My alma mater had 13 sororities, but the first and largest round of recruitment only had 8 sessions during the day. Chapters had to cut down there invites to a preset number, and girls - if they received more than 8 invitations - had to cut houses before even seeing them. When you have to blindly cut based on an application and not on meeting the person, GPA becomes an easy method to make arbitrary cuts.
