the truth

I am rushing this a little so if I have spelliing mistakes or I seem incoherrent just bare with me....
Ok for starters I am currently an fandm freshman. I felt that it would be best to let you know my account of the school. I really hated and despised the school in the first semester. My parents really pushed me to go here and so I decided to come. With that being said, take your parents opnions but choose where you want to go to college for yourself. What you should know about the school is that Greek life is everything. If you do not pledge you will be very bored on the weekends.
Lancaster as a city is not as bad as you would think, if you have a car. If you do not then it will seem very dead. In my experience I believe that I am getting a great education and the teachers are wonderful! However, since the student body is so small and cliquish I feel like I am not getting the true college experience. (it is just like highschool) This all being said I have decided to transfer to a larger school. I will try and check this board, so post your questions and I will respond as best I can.

I am also a freshman at fandm and I completly agree with pumpkins32... like i said in my other posts in other threads its more like high school. The professors are great but the student body sucks and I feel like i am missing out on the college experience. Also like pumpkins32 I will be transferring to a larger school. One way i differ is that my parents didnt push me into going to fandm. They loved the school and really wanted me to come here but i loved teh school too. I thought I wanted a small liberal arts college but after the first semester I knew that I needed a larger school with more things going on. So before you attened a small school just weigh the pros and cons and make sure its what you really want.

In what way does the student body suck? Are they less intelligent than you would have thought? Too into Greek partying? Don't contribute or prepare for class? Skip a lot of classes? etc.

All of the above actually.... Somehow fandm has a great reputation so going in I expected to be with bright students but I was greatly surprised at the student body. Just some of the questions asked in class and different discussions. Fandm is definitely too greek and partying that is the social life here. Students do tend to skip classes, but i cant really comment on their preparation. I mean i guess students do study for tests and do their homework but that doesnt really help them with their grades.

I second doughman on many of the above.... however, the truth is it depends on who you hang out with. There are a lot of kids who are smart and hardworkers, but a lot of kids just screw around. That being said the biggest problem is that the school doesn't do much on campus, so their is not much going on.

wow I feel so happy I got waitlisted :D
